Go Your Way and Teach us All by your Courage.

Teachers were baffled by my mirror writing in elementary school. Forced into a psychiatric hospital for my learning disabilities, a doctor remarked, “Wouldn’t others prefer that you behave differently?” Amplifying my shame by comparing the “defect” I was for the “normalcy” I ought to be, I struggled for decades before we discovered the difference between learning “styles” (unique cap-abilities) from learning dis-abilities. How many of our children are still falling through the cracks by imposing ONE WAY to do anything!
Never be ashamed to be 100% who you are. The problems you face are merely a hologram projected by your true genius. When you see a problem, invert your lens to see its mirror reflection, and consider: “How does this benefit and serve my growth? How is this my genius and advantage?
In martial art, yoga and fitness as in religion, politics and education, I avoid the seduction of denominationalism. Bickering style greases a slippery slope. We’re not at war with each other. Our daily practice makes us all the “good guys.” Our collective foe is the radicalized mind within each of us which seeks to impose “the one true way” to be or do anything.
Good movement is good movement, no matter the style. Truth is truth, no matter the medium.
Be you. Go your way. Teach us all by your courageous example.
Very respectfully,
Scott Sonnon
