Share your Story

August 28, 2012 – 12:57 pm

I receive a few hundred courageous stories a day by private messages. I try to respond to them all, and regret when I cannot thank and applaud each individual for the bravery of their self-disclosure. I want to encourage all of you to share your story with each other. This community we co-create holds a powerful elixir of strength and transformation. You cannot imagine how many people benefit from sharing your hardships and your bravery to persevere. And you may also find, as I did, a beautiful catharsis in becoming transparent, and heal yourself by helping others.

As a great teacher once spoke, “Keep the lesson. Discard the drama.” The drama belongs to ego: it can hold bombast for our awards and achievements and corrosively begrudge our hardships and shortcomings, but neither hubris nor hopelessness can ever assist our growth, and always hasten our collapse. Yet our lessons! Our lessons belong to our spirit and from them we uplift ourselves and others, and can only ever grow and soar. Keep sharing your courage with everyone, as you do with me. And as you help others grow stronger, you may find that you do as well.

Take Risks. If you succeed, you will have grown stronger. If you fail, you will have grown wiser.

Very Respectfully,
Scott Sonnon
