Aim to Misbehave

September 5, 2012 – 11:04 am

I awoke to find my page splattered with graffiti; hate slurs manipulating religion to rationalize why, “the women on yur page oughta stop pretending to be like men,” and why I should, “behave like a man and stop riling women to do things they can’t.”

Well, I aim to misbehave and will happily pick a fight with these apathetic troglodytes.

Some issues demand response, even if addressing ignorance offends our otherwise peaceful sensibilities. Some complain that I should be a more passive man, and not lower myself to pugnacity. But sometimes, the strongest positive affirmation you can utter is, “No!”

To apply Edmund Burke’s moral imperative to this: All that is required for ignorance and apathy to proliferate, is for good men to do and say nothing.”

I don’t indict the individuals as inherently evil, but I do their ignorant behavior and apathetic attitudes. I will continue to call out their bullshit covert misogynistic cowardice. And I will continue to empower everyone regardless of gender, race, orientation, religion, culture or creed.

When you threaten to not buy my books and videos if I continue to empower women, you misunderstand. There’s a line in this sand. I don’t need or want your business. Cross it, and your privileges to be in our community are forfeit.

I am merely a fighter but I AM a fighter. And I didn’t get involved in all of this to make a living. I got involved to make a difference.

  2. Amen, Coach! I work to be part of this community to show my young daughters that their dreams can be a reality. Thank you for drawing the line not in sand that may be erased, but rather concrete.
