Deepest Pain - Greatest Growth
September 15, 2012 – 9:02 am
I would awake every night at 1AM in terrible pain, until my mother would rub liniment on my joints for a couple hours. I’d fall asleep around 4 or 5AM, for a couple more hours until I had to awake for school. The osteochondrosis felt like a shrink-wrapped corset of agony around each joint.
But that horrible childhood experience catalyzed my study of alternative conservative pain treatments, and set me on the path to identifying “joint mobility” thirty years ago, when people laughed at my coining of the term.
Initially, my books tanked and collected dust. Now, a few have become best sellers. Back then, no one even wanted to learn about pain-freedom. Now, “mobility” is an industry standard. Long ago, I couldn’t find anywhere to teach. Now, health clubs offer classes in exclusively mobility, and around the world. For decades, my competitors called me crazy. Now, even high intensity brands are shifting to a mobility mentality.
The hottest fires create the best forges. Certainly, you can let the flames immolate you. But when the heat grows unbearable, please remember, this is happening for a very important reason, for an amazing opportunity, as an immeasurably powerful lesson.
Keep going, you’re almost through, and you’re about to make a major discovery… Endure the pain, but do not suffer it.
very respectfully,
