Gained 33lbs of Athletic Muscle and 40 Years of Life!

September 22, 2009 – 4:55 am

The 2 images on the left were from early November 2008, just about to depart for Italy. The 2 on the right were from last week. So, ten months. Not a ten weeks steroid induced swell, BUT I have better range of motion, mobility, functional power, flexibility, mental stamina and emotional control; much more than athletes half my age. I turn 40 years old in two weeks.

What many don’t realize, and only come to learn after investing hundreds of thousands of dollars training with the world’s best coaches, Olympic and national, is that most professional athletes do well in spite of how they train, not because of it.

My life never worked that way because of my physical and learning disabilities. I had to have intelligent training technologies because I wasn’t part of the 2% who would do well in spite of piss poor coaching. Unintelligent training practices destroyed me (almost mortally several times.)

For me to win international championships in two different sports, to set and hold world records, is a testimony to how someone like myself, swimming upstream from the shallow end of the gene pool, can become a champion athlete. I had to be both coach and athlete, always… be intelligent, consistently driven and meticulously honest about every repetition and each bite of food.

As a child, especially when the doctors institutionalized me because they didn’t understand dyslexia, I crawled toward a distant pinhole of hope. Some asked how it was possible, but the truth is… what’s the alternative?

I wouldn’t say that I’ve been healed, though there’s been a LOT of healing. It was more of a reframe, of the medical community catching up with ME! Now, they realize that dyslexia and ADDHD actually involves “unique wiring” - neurocircuitry with powerful advantages of “normal wiring.” Once I learned HOW I learned, I could do so at an indefatigable rate, but the challenge was trudging through decades of the Pygmalion effect of being told that I would never be athletically or academically successful by doctors, teachers, family…

At age 20, I was told that my physiology was double my chronological age. Last year when I went through my life insurance policy exams, and they deemed that I had a physiology HALF my age. I’ve earned 40 years of extra life! Anything’s possible. Every trauma reversible. Just be intelligent, be consistent, and start NOW, today! (Go on; get going! You can do it!)

  5. WOW, nice results, I’d love to see your training journal. I turn 45 on Friday. I only started with CST last winter and in the short time since I feel I’ve made great progress with my health and fitness. I wish I had discovered this stuff when I was 30!

  7. Looks great Coach. The best part is that I saw you in August demonstrating very challenging exercises with perfect form at the TACFIT. Very few of us could even pull off what you could but with your coaching we were doing stuff that we thought we could not do. Hopefully in March I will look close to that.
