Exceed your Teachers

Nothing makes me happier than when a community exceeds its leadership, children - their parents. As a coach I always hope my athletes will exceed my level, as I wish my children to surpass my growth.

Certain people have made public statements calling me an “over-glorified boy scout” critiquing me for my values. I am a simple man and on a day to day basis, boring in my daily discipline. Prolific work means mundane consistency. And on my free time, I can be found chasing my kids around the sofa. I believe in the nobility of being a “simple man” even if that makes me unpopular with the “in” crowd and the “club scene.”

My greatest honor in life is being able to see my students and my children surpass their perceived potential and my greatest horror would be letting them down and perhaps ruining their opportunity for continued growth by some act of indiscretion on my part.

I have made a LOT of mistakes in the past, more than most, and I have failed many time more than anyone I know, but I choose to “live deliberately” and not repeat the same ones.

V/R,

Scott Sonnon
