Impossible, Says Ego. Give it a Shot, Whispers Heart.

April 14, 2012 – 7:30 pm

I have had a few pivotal teachers in my life, and a few friends who supported me when even family had dismissed my dreams as fantasy. But even with those dear to me, I did stand alone with each choice. Solitude feels a terrible burden when confronting dire decisions.

I recall standing in the middle of my University surrounded by these buildings which would enable my change. 3AM before my first day freshman year, tears flooded my face at the sheer possibility. The first in my family to go to college, but due to my childhood learning disabilities, the low expectations of my teachers, and skipping school 80 out of the 180 days each year to avoid the fights and humiliation, no one believed I would be standing there. Each step had to be taken to arrive at the end of that beginning. And each choice made to take that step.

Just you, your passion and the Heavens.

“It’s impossible,” says ego.
“It’s pointless,” says experience.
“It’s risky,” says reason.

“Give it a shot,” whispers heart.
“Do it anyway,” commits the will.
“YES,” screams spirit.

We all walk roads alone each day. Some innocuous decisions to eat right, exercise properly, think clearly, recover fully, and these daily heroics empower us to make the big choices when they come with their overwhelming might. And then we stand facing the weight of making those hard, right choices over the easy, wrong ones.

You may feel alone. But we all walk alone… together. Don’t turn away. Give it a shot. Do it anyway. Say, “Hell YES!” to your dreams.

Scott

  2. Were you looking over my shoulder coach? The timing of this is perfect. I just made some commitments this week. Standing on the edge staring into the abyss. Looking forward to the freefall.

    Thanks,
    Mark
