what an affirmation to read this article:
http://www.circularstrengthmag.com/27/sonnon3.html
when i had recently come to similar ideas and conclusions myself. i have been spouting to others that in order to change the world we need to start with ourselves, for a while now. though it has only been really recently that i have truly started applying that principle in full to myself.

scott, you put it together so eloquently and in such an inspiring way so i am just bumping this article up here for any of you out there who haven't yet had the time to dig into the archives of the CST magazine yet.

Thanks for bumping that up, Damien.

Two lines of which I was particularly fond:

"We can be the humble mirror for our tribe through our own brave transformation."
That one just kills me. If you read it four or five times in a row, it turns into poetry. Challenging, compassionate, against the wall poetry.

"Some of us have experienced the throws of that addiction personally..."
This is one of the most perfect switcheroos ever, coming from a grappling-oriented person (who loves to throw people through the air).
The stock phrase is actually "experienced the throes," throe meaning " A severe pang or spasm of pain" or "A condition of agonizing struggle or trouble."
Imagine being thrown by Coach Sonnon, and the perfection of the rewording is made manifest.

Thanks Damien. And I should also say it's interesting how this struck you, because you're doing it.
