Here's the training focus for the upcoming year:
1. Start ABC routines with 45lb bruiser (whenever it arrives. can't wait, the routines in the book look great!)
2. Set PRs in deadlift and squat (both are at 405, hope to max at 500) by April (thats when my office moves and I lose my daily health club membership).
3. Transition from primarily powerlifting workouts to high-intensity kb and cb routines (currently only use kbs and cbs on weekends)
4. Significantly improve flexibility and joint health with body flow and warrior wellness routines.
5. Learn Systema from a qualified instructor.
I have made tremendous strength gains during the past few years following Pavel's and Scott's programs. I'm looking forward to an amazing 2004.

New Years stuff this year?? hmmm
Deadlift lockout over 700pds
One arm deadlift over 300pds
2 finger deadlift over 200pds
Perform CB swipes with 20pd CB for reps
Perform all positions in CB exercises from back positions with CB's over 20pds ( my weakest position )
Windmill with 100pd Dumbell
Barebell wrist curl 140pds or more
Close #2 COC gripper
Maybe add another 5-10pds while taking off 1-2 inches off my waist will help too.
Thats the main ones for now.
Just have to keep training...

To flow "seamlessly" from a flat-footed squat to a Cossack squat and back again.
To "un-bound" my flow enough to go from a spinal rock to a pike, touching my feet on the floor behind me.
To keep my feet on the floor as I do my neck rolls.
To compete in the Master's Blackbelt Division in Judo and win first place, without being a black or brown belt.

1. To get back down to a 31/32-inch waistline.
2. To master basic Club Bell techniques and move from 10lbs to 15lbs CBs for most exercises, to 20lbs if I can (without injury)
3. To drop down to 175-180lbs of trim functional weight
4. To work through Four-Corner Balance Drill (from Dolfzine) until I have at least gotten the Intermediate level down
5. To re-enter grappling competition and start winning my divisions instead of taking 2nd or 3rd all the time.
6. To be promoted in Shinbudo, in BJJ, and possibly in Judo or Aikido (if I have time for all 3)
7. To start teaching again.
8. To get out of my own way in my daily movements and recapture the grace I used to have without thinking
To accomplish all this I will be modifying my diet, going back to the dojo, and working with CBs and BMEs, and coming back to these forums for a LOT of guidance!

1 lose anywhere from 20 - 40 pounds. Ideally, i would like to drop to 200 or less. I am now at 240, stronger than Ive ever been but Im willing to lose some strength to get the weight down. This is for purely vanity purposes BTW :)
2 do 20 pull ups
3 explore martial arts. While I train, and work out, and am improving now, I came to the realization that Im not experimenting with martial application like I did when i was young and new to this. PArt of this will training movement (body flow type stuff) part tecnique, part just seeign how I move and taking that next step forward
4 to re develop my kicking ability . My first black belt was in tae kwon do, a kicking oriented style, and I used to have lovely, pretty, though not really combat directed, kicking skills. I would like to regain a good deal of that , but orient it towards real fighting .

New years goals
Compete in a grappling tournament and perform at a level of my own satisfaction (Reward - Arthrokinetics set)
Continue to work on refining my grappling style, seek improvements in all positions, especially weak areas, and work on using concepts instead of aiming for specific techniques
Complete set of 100 swipes and 100 mills with 15# clubbells
(Reward - either a set of 25s or the Bruiser - which I am drawn to, although I know I am one weak joker right now)

1) To keep at least an irregular diary of the insights and ideas I come up with or run across.
2) Polish the aforementioned up enough to actually start publishing them on this forum.
3) Stop being afraid of my Clubbells. This is actually a pretty easy one now that I figured out how to stop injuring my left hand with them.

Better late than never,
One of my New Year's resolutions is to ensure that I get to one of Coach Sonnon's CST seminars.
