View Full Version : Creatine - no more
I have creatined about 6-7 times now with exactly the same results. I weighed 182 6 weeks ago. Yesterday I weighed 190. The problem is I feel thick in the middle. Same thing every time. Frankly I haven't noticed any strength increase and since I'm not worried about weight class I'm going to go off, tighten up the diet (even as much as possible this week without being obtrusive) and get to 180 by my birthday in 2 months (44).
BTW Ellis has a new book - I saw Maxwell's advanced copy -focused on anti-aging. I will try to get a copy to review.

Creatine is pretty hydroscopic and could be causing you to retain some water.
Creatine is used too much as an overall strength booster, but it's value is in low rep, high power output work loads. Beyond about 5 reps, you've used up your CP pathway. So I'm not suprised you're not seeing any benifits since your training is for strength-endurance.
But, if you ever go back to say heavy double/triple deadlifts, I'd go back!
Question Bill...If I were looking for a more refined understanding of ketogenic diet and the like, would Ellis's full edition be the way to go?
Regards,
Vince
You could do that.
I'm not sure what you mean by full. It's just not that complicated - which can be kind of frustrating for those of us that like to read about nutrtion.
The full will give you more backround.
The NHE book has an 80 page explanation of the why of the diet - although as I explained I'm not following NHE.

Merry Christmas Bill! (and others)
I'm kinda looking for information on the nuts and bolts of what changes in the body. For example; I recall reading a research summary about the possible changes of how the body makes cholesterol depending on what combinations of food have been eaten. The preliminary research was that the body was more prone to making LDL's if fats and proteins were in the presences of excess carbohydrates (more than the liver could store).
But I've long since lost the link to the article....so I was hoping Ellis's book might have more info in that vein.
Regards,
Vince
