Many people have been contacting RMAX regarding what will actually be covered in our seminar next month (JUL). The answer is both simple, but not easy (to explain and to do.)
This is not for the "advanced", as everyone is what I call a 'reginner' - perpetually in a process of cycling back to the bottom of the pyramid. Development is a spiral where, from a top view, you are going over and over and over the same issues, but with greater depth.
So, what ARE those issues? Like I said, when you read the following, you may think it looks familiar. It is and it isn't.
Here are the 10 Delivery Systems of FlowFighting®:
1. Boxing - symmetrical
2. Kickboxing - symmetrical
3. Jacketless grappling - symmetrical
4. Jacket grappling - symmetrical
5. Groundfighting - symmetrical
6. Plural standup evasion and escape - asymmetrical
7. Plural (get up from the) groundfighting - asymmetrical
8. Knife Fencing - symmetrical
9. Stick Fencing - symmetrical
10. Armed plural standup and ground - asymmetrical
*Symmetrical here refers to equal intention, agenda and permissions (Rules of Engagement) such as in two or more players; asymmetrical refers to disequal such as in the case of an attacker and a defender.
There is no such thing as "reality combat" other than violent encounters. These are all drills. Even a sport is just a drill, unless that is the end in and of itself, which is a choice but still only a drill. The above drills, in my experience, are the only proper, comprehensive and safe way to manufacture an experience sufficient for combative preparation. (If you're so crippled from your martial art that you're unable to defend yourself, is it an effective martial art?) FlowFighting® is as "real" as it gets.
The above delivery systems will have changing rules of engagement. They are just avenues, and are seamlessly integrated within the Work Continuum (Softwork to Hardwork), Drill Progression (Static to Fluid to Dynamic) and Training Hierarchy (Work Capacity to Sophistication to Specificity to Flow).
The FlowFighting® Athlete doesn't need to understand the organization of the event, only to endure it and give 100% of one's body, mind and spirit. Wherever you are, that's where you work. That's your RMAX for that day.
