Fascinating...

I'm getting towards the mid 40's and reading fine print closely was becoming more difficult. Some quick research turned up something called the Bate's Method for naturally correcting vision without lenses.

Essentially Bate's hypothesis is that most refractive defects in the eye are not genetic or due to old age but rather strain and stress which mis-shape the lense of the eye. And most causes of strain are mental. He did interesting experiments to prove this. He found that in absence of strain, normal vision returned.

Here's one chapter of his book online - see how closely his thoughts on mental stress causing physical stress that lead to physical problems mirror CST.

Here you can read him demonstrating that by causing mental stress to patients caused immediate vision problems. If you want to read the entire book and research he did you can get it here....

I was left thinking... "Dang. If simple mental stresses can cause vision problems that quickly - how the heck else are stress and tension ravaging our bodies?"

I'm doing eye exercises daily and I find it a great help. I am not focusing on exercises to read better but more on my peripheral eye sense. It's amazing because you literally see more of the world, everything is so alive and your mind can wander as it pleases without insulting people infront of you when asked a question (:

i'm doing what i call cst style with the tibetan method for peripheral eye training, I'm sure it will help me in sparring since i'll be very aware of my surroundings and where my hands are.

John, can you explain more about this training or guide me as to where to find more info? It sounds interesting.
