View Full Version : It's true, another hip flexor thread
Aloha,
I pulled both of my illio psoas muscles and some tendon thing on my right hip about 1.5 years ago. I thought it was healed, but then i re-pulled it doing some "agility" drill my coach was haivng me do.
Problem:
My right hip flexor will hurt and make this "clicky," "rubbing" noise when I flex my knee in anyway, or when I extend my leg explosively. After the initial click, the dull pain will persist for hours after the activity.
This is the weird thing- it will hurt one day and then the next I will be able to sprint, jump do anything with no sign of any pain.
My Attempt at a Solution:
Whole body WW stuff, specific hip and hamstring stretches, self massage, posistive thinking( dont laugh, its not funny), and this magnet roller thing my dad has.
The hip injury sort of spreads to both of my MCL's as an fyi
Could anyone suggest any reason for this injury persisting? Or any possible "solutions?"
I seriously appreciate any help,
peace

Mark,
What was the original injury? What was the drill and what did you experience as reinjury?
Is/was there anything going on recently with your left shoulder, upper back, neck or arm?
Coach,
The drill I got hurt doing is called an "eagle jump." You jump into the air and "run," you move your legs back and forth as fast as you can.
I heard a loud pop on both hips, but more so on the right side. The doctor said I pulled a tendon and it was rubbing against another tendon/muscle causing the discomfort.
The reinjury was during a drill called 4 corner: you sprint 15yds, do carioca 15yds, back pedal 15yds and the carioca again 15yds in a square pattern. I reinjured my hip during the 1st carioca. This felt more like a tear, a deep, dull muscle pain than the crazy tendon thing.
Now, however, I feel the muscle pain, sometimes, and the tendon rubbing, sometimes.
The right side of my upper back, just after the shoulder blade next to my spine, feels like a nerve is exposed when I do curls (not by choice). Also, all of my upper body lifts have decreased. From the top/end of the trapezius all the way up both sides of my neck has been really tight. I recently had a killer migriane headache I attribute to this tightness as is was about the third headache I've ever gotten.
Both of my shoulders are extremely tight and tire quickly, even doing WW drills. I can tell the difference when I run too, my entire upper back/shoulder area feels like I have some invisisble jacket holding my arms in place. I can't even punch fast anymore.
That's all I can think of right now, if you need more info than I will be glad to give it to you.
thanks again

Mark,
It reads like you need to consult a physician regarding your knee and hip trauma.
However, you did throw out this satellite to which you should pay close attention. Read your words carefully. They tell all.:

Firstly, you have total choice to stop ANY activity which leads to injury.
Secondly, your diminished performance isn't surprising. Wearing that invisible straight jacket of tension and ungoverned internal bracing doesn't help tension generation at all. You need to be able to move from total relaxation in order to generate maximal tension.
If you want to resolve this issue and if you do not want injury, and if you want to start seeing performance INCREASES, you may need to:
1. Take a total break from strength and conditioning for at least 2 weeks.
2. Perform Warrior Wellness daily - smoothly and slowly - concentrating on the head, neck, shoulders and upper back.
3. Perform Vibration Drills from Prime Your Bioenergy daily concentrating on the head, neck, shoulders and upper back.
You definitely need to get that monkey off your back if you want to get up out of the red line of chronic injuries and diminished performance. But you need to be diligent enough to set aside strength and conditioning, perhaps even skill practice for a couple weeks and get to active recovery.
sorry it took me so long to relply, it kept saying "invalid session"
Anyway, thank you for the advice-
the tension is pretty much gone. And I added a microstretching routine before bed to help me relax into sleep. Both WW and stretching have helped alot.
one more question:
I dont own the WW tapes so iwas wondering how to do elbow and knee infinities, (i dont have the money or the time to buy freedom by degree tapes but they sound pretty fresh)
thanks again for helping me, it means alot

You don't own the Warrior Wellness course but you've been doing "whole body Warrior Wellness"? I don't understand.
Although I'm certain that your condition causes you discomfort, RMAX.tv Productions' policy is that if you have a course or piece of equipment, I can help guide you, but this is not a forum for providing the courses for free.
I apologize for the misunderstanding-
I own maximology, fisticuffs and body flow
So i do neck, lumbar, shoulder, back, pelvic and ankle infinities. I thought that was "full body" until I read about elbow and knee circles in another thread.
I understand you not wanting to give away free information like that, but I am not sure if getting the WW tapes would provide enough new info to justify my buying them.
thnaks anyway,
