Anybody have any suggestion on how to better my footwork for combat? Any specific drills. I run through some, here they are:

Shuffle Step
Shuffle Step Switch
Side Step
Push Step
Steal Step
Retreat Pendulum Step
Pivot Step
4 Corner Drill (Advance, Retreat, Left Sidestep, Right Sidestep)
Walk the Line
ZIg Zag Man
Circle Walking

I pretty much do around 100 reps. 50 advance and 50 retreat on each side (left or right foot forward)

Any tips or pointers?

Tyler-

What type of combat sport are you preparing for? I only ask because footwork will vary from sport to sport (if not round to round). Smile.

Always,

Joseph

P.S.
There is a good chance that the "running footwork drills" that we perform in the Hardwork DVD's "Combat Warm-up" bonus disc will help any fighter. I know they help me and are a staple of my training routine.

Basically my combat sport is Hung Gar Gung Fu. Ya I ordered the Hard Work vid, it's on its way.

Tyler,

Get a hold of Hardwork. The Combat Warm-up DVD specifically addresses this. It's the best resource on the subject.

Going Ballistic by Coach Jones has a good breakdown of some footwork drills. You would also probably find Leg Fencing and Fisticuffs very useful too.

Thanks. :D Will watch it longer. Preoccupied with learning body flow and flow fit.
