I've seen some big Americans from time to time, but most of them don't make the finals.
I wonder what training methods these other guys are doing that the Americans aren't.

Kazmeir (Sp.) won it at least once (I think more than once). My personal opinion as to why Americans don't fare better in the WSM competitions, is that we tend to emphasize the "appearance of strength" rather than actual strength more than other countries. Used to be that the gyms were full of athletes, now they seem to be full of people who just want to look like athletes.
*not that there's anything wromg with that

I agree with Brandon,
Interest in vanity probably takes time away from real strength training.

Kaz was a 3X champ, i think he's the only one to win it three times. He is the freakin' man.

WSM is an entertainment event, and Doug Edmunds, the owner of the WSM company wants to keep it European, to appeal to Europeans. Europeans want to see European winners, not American winner.
So, American strongmen are picked late for the contest, although a qualification system is just now being put into place.
Doug Edmunds has also informs the European athletes exactly what events to expect, months in advance, and not do so for the American strongmen.
