Steve,
I am a raw foodist who is planning on adjusting to the Warrior Diet. I was wondering if you could offer some guidance on protein requirements. I use both CB and KB in my workouts, body weight drills and jiu jiutsu 3-4 times a week.
I plan on adding eggs and whey protein to my diet and was wondering the total number of grams you would suggest per lb of bodyweight? I am 152 plan on dropping about 1-2 lbs of bodyfat and adding some mass to get around 155.
Thanks for your time and consideration
Alan
I'll try to talk to Steve if he doesn't see this by tomorrow.

Chuck,
I would appreciate any insight you could share. I was asking Steve since he does both the CB and BJJ.
I am a raw foodist so the day time diet is not a problem.
I usually have 4-5 blended bananas with water for breakfast and a salad for lunch. Dinner is what I am working on. I am reading the book and trying to apply the principles to my diet.
Is it possible to be vegan with maybe just eggs and goat cheese or goats milk?
I am unsure of the protein quality of beans and I read about the digestive problems with them. I love the concept of Ori's program and have noticed muscle loss just on the raw foods?
I know I need to add some olive oil as a dressing to add some good fats and vary some steamed veggies in there.
I just don't want to overdue the protein. It's how I got on the Raw diet as I was doing 200-300 grams of protein powders a day and I got bloated with some muscle gains the raw program cleaned me out and now I am ready to rebuild.
Thanks for the support
Alan

Dear Alan,
To put you at ease, I also am a certified Gracie Barra instructor and clubbell addict! Steve and I have a lot in common yet I haven't had the privilege of meeting him as of yet.
On to your questions! If I may, I'd like to make a few recommendations which you may do with whatever you choose. I would first recommend using berries instead of bananas to start your day. We are trying to reduce or eliminate starchy foods in the Undereating phase. Eating a banana once in a while is fine. You might also consider adding your berries to a cup of organic fat free yogourt in the A.M.
Things like goat cheese, poached eggs, whey ricotta cheese, fruits, and vegetables work very well during the day. For the evening "Main Meal", I would recommend that you consider adding a cooked food to your regimen. I respect whatever direction you choose with this, however, one cooked protein source when combined with all the "live foods we just mentioned earlier, works very well in the body and is a good overall approach. If this idea isn't for you right now, try sushi! You can also use eggs as we said earlier. It's always best to have a few good choices and rotate them over three or four days. IE Eggs and beans one night, sushi the next, chicken the next etc.
Beans are an incomplete protein by themselves. They work exceptionally well when combined with grains like rice and barley and also work well with meats. The secret is to buy the beans yourself and triple wash them and soak them for a few hours and that should take away any tendency for them to disrupt your digestive system. Stay away from canned beans. They won't have taken the same care as you will!
Please feel free to ask me anything else you would like to know. I may have missed one of your questions along my rambling answer
I hope this helps.
All my best,

Chuck,
Thanks for the information. I will try your breakfast idea instead of the bananas. They are probably why I have some stubborn fat sticking around.
As for protein I will do the eggs and beans I will stay away from the chicken, fish and red meat. I am going to try the vegan approach and stay meatless. Any info on eating the eggs raw, any benefit to that approach?
About protein requirments how much would you suggest per day on average per lb of body weight?
I will be adding rice or whey protein during the day a couple of shots as recommended by Ori in some of his updates.
Another question what do you advise for a meal following a morning or afternoon workout with Bodyweight weight exercises and clubbells?
Also then how would I adjust the main evening meal?
On another topic what exercises do you follow with the CB when preparing for a competition? I am trying to maxmize my strength and add maybe 2 lbs of muscle by the 3rd week of March as I have a little body fat to lose and I will be shooting for about 155 I need to double check the divisions.
I really appreciate the time you are taking to help me reach my goals. It is refreshing the openess with knowledge all the CST people have. Most people hoard their ideas for a select chosen few.
Thank You
Alan

Hi Alan,
I'm only too happy to help. It's just as refreshing to meet sincere people with sincere goals rather than the ego driven mainstream.
I think you will find an Interview that Bill Fox is doing with Ori and myself very helpful with your vegan approach. One of the questions relates directly to that, but I will touch on that with you today.
First off--eggs. I eat them raw, everyday. I eat only two but they are grass fed, free range, organic eggs. I feel very well when doing this. Ori suggests lightly poaching them. I'll leave the decision to you.
Protein requirements per pound of bodyweight. This is a very 'sophisticated ' topic argued daily by many gurus. Suffice it to say, Ori's approach is to rotate days of low, moderate, and high protein days so the body does not adapt, or stagnate and also to avoid sensitivities. The body has an incredible ability to RECYCLE protein from within and needs to be given the opportunity to do so. This is where others fail and the 'protein toxification' happens (like what happened to you before).
Try rotating days of 50-70 grams/day with another day of around 100 grams and then finally a higher day of 150grams (if you can!)
Be sure to choose the best whey protein you can find and limit your shakes to 15 grams during the day for maximum assimilation. Remember Alan, you are NOT what you eat. You ARE what you ASSIMILATE.
After a morning or afternoon training, a perfect recovery meal would be fat free organic yogourt and yes, A BANANA! laughs
Now is the perfect time for the banana.
I took the OCS mills and swipes and broke them down to their elementary components and worked on those and then finally put them all together to train for my CST exam. It worked quite well for me. I encourage you to see what other great students have done as well.
Oh, I forgot, you don't need to adjust anything with your main meal when you put in a recovery meal after your workout.
I hope I got most of your initial questions answered Alan. Please feel free to ask anything that I may have missed or anything that comes to mind. Another thing I'll tell you that a Natural Horsemanship mentor of mine says.."Practice doesn't make perfect; only PERFECT practice makes perfect!"
So let's try to get you right on track, o.k?
All my best,

Chuck,
Thank you again for your time and consideration. I will incorporate your guidelines in my program. Some days I train in the day and then don't roll until 8 pm so I the recovery meal is perfect. I have been doing some carrot juice before the class and water throughout. I will then do my evening meal after that.
I like the protein cycling I have always done the same day after day.
I was thinking Designer Whey as it seems to be good a good brand I have used in the past and about 16 g a scoop.
I look forward to the interview with Ori that will be awesome. I will keep you updated on my progress and look forward to meeting you in the future.
Thanks for the support
Alan
