So I've decided to apply for the Vancouver Police Dept. Applications aren't being taken until Feb. so I've taken the liberty to research the basic testing given to potential recruits.
On the physical side, a recruit must complete an obstacle course in under 4 min. and 15 seconds, we must also be able to run 2.4 km in 12 minutes. Amongst other things, they test out hand strength and they're looking for candidates who have "good strength and are in good physical condition!"
Now, I know for sure that I can EASILY run 2.4 km in 12 minutes, but I'd obviously like to get an edge going into the other physical tests. I'm thinking that bodyweight exercises like push-ups and chins will help along with sprints. As for weights, I'm probably gonna use my club the most, I'm not sure if pumping dumbells and barbells will be of any use. As for hand strength, I'm guessing it will be done on a dynomometer which will be NO problem because I can close the #2 Captain of Crush gripper! They won't really give me any specifics, but like I said, if I can prepare at all for the test ahead of time, it will probably help a lot!
Any input from you guys!
