while i was Being Breathed today i found i was getting out of breath. i was doing only the first exercise...Butterfly. the beginning was good..inhale on the floor roll my shoulders as i exhale and rise.....then again inhaling and exhaling as i descend. now...question one: shall i exhale thru the full movement while going down or a quick exhale and then ?? hold the breath till the floor?, this is where i am confused. i felt comfortable exhaling thru the whole descending motion. ok...#2 when i am bringing the knees in toward the torso is that on an inhale ALL the way up till the hips are above my head?

the long and short of it is i felt i was losing my breath in different places. of course this is new to me and i am "regaining"(better word choice energy than fat and out of shape: ) my inner and outer fitness.

thanks

If your thinking about it and actively deciding on when you should be inhaling or exhaling then you are breathing and not being breathed. This is completely fine when your beginning and as you move toward letting the motion breathe you instead of coordinating your breathing with the movement.

You want to apply the breath mastery scale (do a forum search, also good articles in old CST Mag). Exhale when applying effort. Try to avoid "holding" your breath. Its ok not to breathe but don't try to hold any state (in or out or neutral).

As you roll inward/upward you exhale: you are both compressing and applying effort. At the top you raise upward with your crown. This elongation and chest expansion creates an inhale. As you roll downard the air will leave you: exhale. Arch your spine slightly this creates an inhale. Pull your knees inward, this creates compression and an exhale. The breathing should match the movement.

Just go slow, relax. Search the forum and read up on the breath mastery scale (or pull out the card from IntuFlow). Apply that scale with the exercises and information presented in BeBreathed.
