I watched _Take the Lead_ with my lady a couple of days ago. For those who don't know, it's a pretty recent movie about a ballroom dance teacher taking his art into one of the rougher public schools in New York. (Based on a real guy, Pierre Dulane, who did just that. For his picture, look in any dictionary under 'chutzpah.' BTW, he now has programs going in over 100 schools in NYC.)

A few RMAX-relevant bits:

1. Somewhere in the extras, Pierre Dulane says "Steps are just steps; what happens in between the steps is dance." (Or words to that effect -- I wasn't fast enough to write it down, so I'm paraphrasing from memory.) Ballroom Prasara, anyone?

2. Also in the extras, they talk at some length about how well the 'dungeon kids' bonded. They're kind of surprised by it. But these kids spent all day, every day dancing with each other for a month of rehearsal. Kind of reminded me of the bit at the end of Softwork where Coach Sonnon talks about 'learning to work together at a visceral level.'
