Hi al,
Here's my history and what I would like to acheive.
39 years young. Former intense (college level) basketball player. inactive tennis player (probably a "b" level now). I am 6'1" 220 (not muscle), not flexible at all. I have a 3year old I would like to see grow up. I have no martial atrs background and no real interest. I am most interested in overall strenght and flexibility for family play time and some league tennis. Never really liked lifting weights either, thats why body weight excersises apeal to me. Been getting the emails for some time now.
I unfortunally purchased the "royal court" 2 months ago and feel ripped off. Matt taks a good game but realy has nothing real to offer me.
I am very competitive and have the mental toughness to follow an intense schedule (which my work is now proving) (I am an HOA manager, don't even ask).
I am very overwhelmed by the products avaliable and am looking for a place to jump on but don't want something so elementary that someone with a strong atheletic background won't be bored or feel like someting is missing.
I need a stretching routine that will be effective and easy to follow, a body weight routine that is flexible enough that when I am too busy I can just hit the major componets, and when I want to really go after an intense full blown workout it's there.
My wife bought a total gym on craigs list befre we moved from Phoenix, and it seems to be a decent workout (remember I am not realy into weight lifting) when I get on it, but no real dedication to it.
So, I hope this helps you guys help point in in the right direction and what I should do.

BTW, is there a place to go on the site to see some flexibility routines?

Thanks for the help, I realy need some guidance. Have a fantastic day.
Sorry forgot my sig.

CW,

Welcome to the forum!

I would suggest that you start with Intu-Flow®, which with practice, will help you to move more efficiently and fluidly, thus allowing for pain-free mobility. Secondly, I recommend purchasing the Prasara (bodyweight) program, in which you can explore very deeply, whether on a consistent basis, or whenever your schedule allows. An alternative to the Prasara program would be the Flow-Fit program, as it is more incremental and better suited for those who are new to CST.

I look forward to your explorations and discoveries.

Take care,

:thumbup1: Thanks Don,
I appreciate the help. One quick question, when I sit on the couch to watch a movie (or sit anywhere for a long time for that matter) I am very stiff in my left hip/groin. Doesn't feel muscular, more like joint stiffness. I hobble like a geezer when i stand up until it loosens up. While I am waiting for my materials to arrive, can you recommend an exercises or two to try tonight when I get home? Thanks.

BTW, I use an inversion table occasionally and I sleep on a Tempur-pedic bed. (nothing hurts in the morning)Lower back is very stiff after walking a lot (shopping with the wife):embarassed:

CW,

Unless you have a precondition that prevents you from exercising, you might try something simple: Stand on one leg, using a wall for assistance, and slowly swing your opposite leg in a circle (focusing on the hip as an axis) approximately 5 times in each direction. Note: Focus on small circles at first, expanding the diameter as the absence of pain allows. Repeat for the other leg. I hope this helps.

Take care,

Got it. Thanks. I'll do this at the office today.
BTW I ordered Intu-Flow® last night. I have very high expectations, so we'll see. Thanks for the help and intro.
