So I got the bruiser last Friday and have been doing a little bit with it each day in order to get comfortable with it. Initially my grip was totally unaccustomed to the type of resistance the clubbell was giving me. When I first hoisted it I thought, "How the hell does Doug use this thing!" My hands would just give out once I grabbed the handle. Anyways, I got home from work today itching to use the thing and an amazing feeling came over me this time around. My hands weren't hurting, my wrists felt fine as well, there was no pain in my palm or thumb and my grip just felt much more natural like I was finally HOLDING the clubbell rather than fighting it. Because of this I could focus more on what the rest of my body was doing throughout each movement. I can't believe at how adjusted my grip has become ALREADY only after a couple of days using the Bruiser! I was able to do swings, cleans, and shoulder parks with much greater ease today. Now I'm really thinking that maybe I CAN get proficient with this thing, maybe I do have what it takes.
To all of you who are in the process of starting out on the heavy clubs, once you get over the initial gripping pain/fatigue and you hands adjust to the resistance, it really is an amazing feeling to be able to feel what the club does for the rest of your body!
