i was watching a old mma tape with a russian fighter called Sergei Bytchkov in it. He leg locked some dutch fighters . But when we went for those leg locks in stead of falling back to his back/side to apply the lock. He rolled to his belly and cranked it while extending his back and putting his arm in the air.

I never saw something like that before.

Does this way have any extra strong points over the normal way?

Aaron,
Sergei's a friend of mine, and I enjoy watching him perform. However, I cannot understand your description. Do you have a clip?

Now I understand you. Yes, it appeared to be an Achilles, but could have been an ankle submission. Regardless, it's a fairly common SAMBO practice to roll to the belly for several reasons.

1. Superior leverage (with gravity.)
2. Removes mobility of opponent
3. Decreases ability to counter/escape.
4. Easier to isolate submission.
5. Easier to disengage the ground to standing.

Cool, i was never taught the leg lock like that, dutch sambist do not have a strong submission game from what a have seen.

I will play around with that leg lock.
