coach i read in an article that wearing a weighted vest using clubbells will protect your shoulders from injuries that larger clubbells can cause. what do you think? should i spring for a vest or just get a larger clubbell?

Multiple time BJJ world champ and coach Steve Maxwell uses a weighted vest for grappling enhancement, but also rigorously practices Body-Flow, lighter weight Clubbell work, and dynamic joint mobility in order to offset residual tension imbalances.

If a weighted vest inhibits shoulder synergy due to constriction, then obviously it endangers the Clubbell athlete. Anything which limits mobility conditions immobility; anything which delimits mobility conditions mobility.

A vest by definition does not add resistance to the shoulder movement, but only weight to the frame, so shoulder synergy does not adapt and progress to the imposed demand.

The Clubbell specifically strengthens the shoulder like no other piece of equipment ever created. A heavier Clubbell means a stronger, healthier shoulder.

Lastly, injuries to shoulders, like injuries anywhere happen not because of equipment, but because of poor form... in other words, not using the equipment properly.

thanks for the fast reply coach. do you sleep???? the article seemed kinda silly like it was just promotional piece to push a new piece of equipment. clubbells hit everything i need for combat specific strength and conditioning so no need for me to add any superfluous stuff. i just wondered what you thought about those comments about clubbells.
