View Full Version : Suggesting average of both sides for the Mill instead of min

The issue is some people are expressively "rightish" or "leftish".

In some sports or specific situations within the given sport in can be either an advantage (say, track-and-field throwing events
- the far, the better, no matter which arm; fencing - you don't have to
switch hands, boxing - does not matter was it mostly jabs or crosses which finished the opponent off).
So it looks like judging by min. of two sides these people are
immediately in disadvantageous situation.
The average of 2 sides would solve the problem.

Moreover, many of Clubbell people are involved in other
upper-arm-intensive trainings.

With min. set for one side, during the competition preparation period one then should practically exclude things like fisticuffs, rock climbing, etc.
- one finger index a little bit screwed up (like I have now)
and you're don't have serious chances as your stronger (or healthier at the moment) side would not be contribute to the result.
However with the average for both sides the situation would look better.

What do you think?

Oleg,

Hey brother. Glad to see you here on the new forum.
Listen, I can appreciate the suggestion, and I'm open to hearing what the rest of the Tribe responds. As you know, the scoring method is parallel to the Snatch event in Girevoy Sport. However, here are my thoughts:

Clubbell training was designed to remove your weakest links - to maximize your strengths and mitigate your weaknesses until such a time that they become strengths. IOW, you're only as good as your weakest link. This is why the unique 3D strength (tri-planar)development strengthens your weakest links - not just from a muscular approach, but from a neuromuscular and neurological approach. I fear that catering to handedness may run counter to this mission. I think our goal should not be to maximize how many numbers we can get up on the board, but on strengthening our weakest links - preventing ourselves from concealing any inadequacies, facing them, and becoming triumphant in spite of them.

Again, I appreciate the suggestion, can see your logic and am open to the responses from the rest of the Tribe.

Have to go with with Coach Sonnon here. The OCS should be a demonstration of Warrior Wellness, in the bigger sense, or preparedness. I've noticed that even though the KBs have evened out the "strength" in my shoulders somewhat, when i do Mill it exposes the instibility in the right side ( the weak link). MS status in OCS should demonstrate that these issues have been exposed and worked thru so that the body can be expressed ( Bruce Lee) without limitation.

I agree with Bill and Coach Sonnons for the reasons given, and the fact that I don't like my stronger side being three times stronger than my weaker side, which forces me to work the weaker side more.
