We have only preliminary results from the event official, since the athletes are now 'celebrating.'

Senior Division (25lbs Clubbells)
1st Place: Scott Sonnon (198lbs. Weight Class) 238 rep-points

2nd Place: Doug Szolek (220+lbs. Weight Class) 235 rep-points

3rd Place: Brandon Jones (220+lbs. Weight Class) 139 rep-points
Junior Division (15lbs Clubbells)
1st Place: Scott Hagnas (163.5lbs Weight Class) 275 rep-points

2nd Place: Casey Reilly (163.5lbs Weight Class) 268 rep-points
This is an incredibly "high bar" set by these fantastic athletes! This is the first event of its kind since the 1932 Olympic Games and made history today! Congratulations to all Olympic Clubbell athletes!

Congratulations to all competitors. To participate in such an event, regardless of numbers posted, is awe inspiring for the rest of us. History was made and new standards were set. The future will be interesting indeed.

graet job all athletes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

i just read that the dragondoor people are calling alll of the OCS athletes "frauds and charlatons" because everyone did so well at the competition.

http://forum.dragondoor.com/index.pl?smessage=255601&tpstate=training

it's funny cuz i bet none of them ever swung the 25s, never did one Swipe or one Mill in their life. it's like the guys yelling at BJJ saying they're tanking in NHB because of the (WINNING) strategy when they've never competed themselves. i'd love to see these guys actually organize a compettion and put up or shut up.

the second thing thats funny is that in pavel's book the KB ranking for Master of Sport in 1986 was:

60kg 36 rep-points
70kg 65 rep-points
80kg 85 rep-points
90kg 105 rep-pointss
90+kg 125 rep-points

And the current ranking to qualify for MS in KB is in 2004:

60kg 76 rep-points (increased by 40 reps since 1986)
70kg 103 rep-points (increased by 38 reps since 1986)
80kg 128 rep-points (increased by 43 reps since 1986)
90kg 135 rep-points (increased by 20 reps since 1986)
90+kg 147 rep-points (increased by 17 reps since 1986)

it seems to me that the numbers to achieve MS in OCS are so high that i'll never get them, but already the CB athletes that have hit those numbers because theyve trained so hard and "smartly" (as scott says).
does this mean that the qualification for OCS will increase? probably. i dunno.
does this mean that the guys who earned MS in 1986 are "frauds and charlatons"? hardly. Rob Lawrence is an incredible strength endurance athlete who recently scored 70 rep-points in KB sport in chicago championships i think. In 1984 he only needed 45 to get level I.
what do those guys care anyway what we do?

That's interesting how DragonDoor would put down OCS....

I was at the compitition myself and saw everyone compete and DO NOT think that any of the attempts were easy! More than a few of the athletes that competed were unable to take their CBs with them off the mat after finishing one 10 minute round! Strong men  !

Again, my congratulations to all who competed! I'm glad that I was their to get a first hand look at everyone's technique (all were different, some more different than others  ) and become inspired to attempt competing next year! Already started working on my form!

Thanks again Coach Sonnon for organizing this grueling event and my congrats on that top spot!

You're correct. I get this from time to time too from people who never read my book or seen my videos yet they say negative things about them. Just ignore the trolls is the best thing to do.

Ironically, the folks who competed and did well should be proud of themselves, not only because of what they acheived, but also because those who criticize them are subconsciously paying tribute to their success. So don;t get angry, take a bow.

Scott, Doug, Brandon, Scott, Casey: there should be a word beyond "congratulations". I've only got a glimmer of how hard it is to do what yawl did. Honored to stand in your shadows, "playing" with my 10s a couple minutes at a time.

I'm sorry if I started any controversy over at DD. I meant a sincere congrats to the competitors. My friends Scott Sonnon and Scott Hagnas both competed admirably. I know Scott H. has trained diligently for months to get ready for this. He is a pro flatland BMX rider and one of the most dedicated people I know to training and health. I had him call me right after the competition had ended to give me a report from ground zero.
International Master of Sport is the highest honor in any athletic endeavour and I have only admiration for anyone who has earned his place atop the mountain. I hope your performances inspire others to try their hands in Olympic Clubbell Sport.

Guys

Don't confuse Garm with "everyone at DD". Garm has called me a weak, skinny, homo, so take it with about 12oz. of salt.

The point of the numbers naturally being comparetvely "soft" is well taken. I did CMS #s in 3 months w/ 15s. I can only do Level 2 numbers with KBs after 8 months and CMS is a pipe dream. Knowing Scott and Doug's love of self torture, I 'm sure the #s will adjust up over time.

As the sport grows there will be a need to have more structure etc... in the meantime let the haters have there internet fun while guys like Egan Enoue and John Brookfield play with there CBs.

Are there any plans to post pictures/videos of the lovely competitors? Specifically, a lot of the ladies are talking about this Casey Reilly character.

Having recorded the event on tape,

and taking KEY  pictures I can tell you this was no fluke :!:

My Brothers worked their butts off to pump out those numbers :!:

With only a Month to train,
I tried to do an event Pre-creation to see if I could compete with the15's
and couldn't even come Close! :(

To do those numbers you to put in some serious training to even come close to what these guys have done :!:

I 'm just glad I was right there to fuel my desire to compete in this Amazing event.

Congratulations Brothers!

CONGRATULATIONS!! AWESOME NUMBERS!!

<I feel like such a weak little kitten yet...>

I'm gonna have to put in my time... I'll be coming for you in a year or two, boys.

LOL!

Most of the DragonDoor posts are one guy shooting off his mouth and a few others going, "Yeah, that's right!" :x

The part that interested me most was someone claiming that lots more CBs than KBs had been offered for sale on their forums, yet one guy claimed he had a 13-lb "homemade club bell", no experience, and was suddenly doing Mills "easily".

Has anyone else seen this? I looked for secondhand CBs for a couple of months prior to joining this forum and ordering my own. No matter how I googled and searched, I couldn't find ANYTHING.

I am still looking, especially for CBs in the 15-25 lb range, if anyone has any extras lying around that they don't need... ... or maybe I will go snatch up all those pesky CBs littering the DD forums. :P
