Hi

I am started KTA program for the COC grippers and it mentions not to do any other grip work with its program....

But can I do clubbell work? I don't want to stay away from CBs for over a month :(

I asked the guys over on the Gripboard and they did not know. Strange I know.

What does your daily/weekly training program comprise and what are your ultimate goals of this program?

It's never a good idea to approach a Clubbell with a fatigued grip.

KTA is a program used to help get your crush grip stronger for the COC grippers...Very heavy Voume builded up over a period of weeks.

ex. first week..work up to 50 singles
ex..fourth week..work up to 100 singles in a week's time.

They mentioned not to do any type of grip lifting.

Clubs are one of my main workout tools, but it does emphasize grip more than anything.

Jay, no "grip lifting" would mean no real lifting whatsoever (unless you're having a machine move the weight for you  ). The Clubbell is grip primary, so if you intend to follow their program with the hopes of achieving the results they guarantee, it would be best to observe their prohibitions.

You may not feel like it's overtraining. However, it may compete for the ability to achieve the results they guarantee. Give their program a fair chance. Professionals don't offer suggestions haphazardly.

If you just train with the clubs, you will at least MAINTAIN your strength on the grippers. I haven't touched the CoC's in over a month because I'm doing ABC, but I can MASH the #2 quite easily still!

I think I can field this. You will not be able to use the Clubbells if you give everything you've got to the KTA program. Your hands will have holes in them and your pinky will be so chewed up that you may have to put tape on it to stop the wound from opening when you train the grippers again (even when you think you shouldn't be training). KTA is extreme in its true form.

I think that Mike is right that you would maintain your strength with the clubbells alone, but your goal is probably much more than maintaining strength on the grippers. Of course, the other way around is true too, that training KTA will certainly not hurt your grip strength on the clubbells. The other benefits of clubbells will not be maintained, but your overall grip will be stronger when you return.
