This may be a bit off-topic but of possible interest to military, law enforcement, hunters, or recreational shooters.
My observation is that the 7 Key Components of CST are directly applicable to using firearms.
This was confirmed for me again when I was at the range a few days ago. I was shooting my 9mm and doing very well. I don't get to the range a that much so when I do I always concentrate and try pretty hard to score well. But this day I didn't feel I was 'trying' all that hard. It almost felt effortless.
It was only after I was shooting for a while that I realized I was using all the 7 Key Components of CST. They were all there from Leg Drive to Core Activation to Grip Confirmation. I didn't have to really think about it applying them, it just happend. I progressed through the qualification tables 3 times without a single miss.
I had a similar experience when I was shooting the M4 assault rifle. Because I was laying in the prone for the rifle qualification I found that the key components may be applied a bit differently but they were still there.
So the next time you go to the firing range, I would encourage you to think about and try to apply the 7 Key Components and see if your marksmanship improves.
The prerequisite, of course, is that you are training daily and consistantly in CST with proper technique at all times.
