I spent the last four days learning about Active Isolated Stretching (AIS) and Strengthening at a seminar taught by Aaron Mattes (www.stretchingusa.com (http://www.stretchingusa.com)). It was a great experience, and I am awed by the volume and depth of the material presented.

My prior experience with AIS was limited, but intriguing. Those who practiced it as a form of self-help, as therapists, or as trainers all seemed very hooked. When I learned that Aaron Mattes was coming to town for this seminar, I just had to jump at the opportunity to learn from him. Mattes is an incredible teacher and absolutely WORLD-CLASS clinician. I observed him working on many people, and it was incredible to see how rapidly this living legend can effect positive changes in a body.

The participants were great people and I enjoyed everyone I worked with. At times, the camaraderie reminded me of that at CST ICs. :) My thanks to Von, Mark, Diane, and Fred for being excellent partners and adding a lot of fun to the process.

AIS is a discipline that may be practiced as self-care, as a form of therapy, as a form of athletic training, or as an extremely specific approach to performance enhancement. It is practiced in different ways by physicians, physical therapists, athletic trainers, bodyworkers, and laypeople.

During the last four days, I kept noticing how CST and AIS embrace similar fundamental concepts, particularly that of Incremental Progression. Though the disciplines are very different, they are compatible and complementary.

I have a couple of seminar pics that I will share with the Tribe soon, including one or two surprises. I would type more, but it's late and I must be up early.
