Hi everyone,
I could use some help.
I've realized half the battle in college wrestling is avoiding injuries. After having a severe back injury and knee problems, I no longer take being injury free for granted; I cherish wellness.
First let me say that other than my left hip, which I will get to in a second, I've never felt better. Since I started with Intu-flow and Body-flow at the beginning of this summer, I've had no new injuries, increased my knee range of motion and stability dramatically, I recover faster, I hardly have any aches and pains, improved my back issues, and oh yes my wrestling improved! (just to name a few). The shinbox is so applicable! Grappler's toolbox is next!
So back to my left hip. For the past few years my hip has clicked when I do certain motions like a crunch with a full extension in my legs. I never paid much attention to it (mistake) until the start of this summer when I noticed that sprinting began to cause a dull pain just below and slightly to the outside of my hip bone. At first I thought it was tendinitis as the pain gradually got worse, but it is not. I had a few weeks off from running (still wrestled intensely) and had zero pain in my hip. I thought I fixed the problem. But today our team did an intense sprint-type workout and I was limping in that all too familiar pain afterwards.
The only success I've had in treatment has been an isometric exercise in which I fully flex my hip upwards and then push down on my hands with my foot. Working on the bottom range of motion of pistols helped a little too, but obviously there's still a problem. My trainer told me my left hip is slightly lower than my right, and that the SI joint is possibly more anterior than it should be. A highly trained chiropractor that I consulted could give me no advice. Hip mobility and strength are not problems (although maybe it's too much flexibility as that hip is super- flexible from my wrestling style).
Intu-flow has not improved the condition either. Just a note: after a run like today's and I'm doing hip circles, I encounter pain coming in and out of the left hip bend. Running namely sprinting seems to be the only thing that aggravates it.
Sorry for the long story, but I figured if anyone could help me you folks at RMAX could. I'd be glad to give more specifics.
Warm regards,
Luke Chohany
