View Full Version : Flowfit, Women and Muscles

I have given my girlfriend the Flowfit program to work on, and she is enjoying the movements greatly.

She is currently up to 7 minutes on level II (I think 8 minutes next session, I am having her use intuitive training methods to know when to increase up a minute).

After 2 weeks of training I can already see the changes in her body... and I like the athletic look she is gaining, but she is having development in her arms and shoulders....

I'm just curious about the muscle development of women following a program like Flowfit?

Something tells me that their musculature wont evolve the same way a mans does (unless perhaps diet and herbal testosterone supplements are used?).... but I'm not so sure.

So yeah, not intending to come across as sexist or anything.... but I love my woman for her femininity.

hahaha.

By the way she has beautiful form and is developing very quickly having been a professional athlete (runner, but she played every sport she could) in the past, to which becoming a mother got in the way of.

a muscle is 75% water and 25% protein, it does not matter if it is a male or female muscle. They all develope by the same principle of S.A.I.D. (Specific Adaptation to Imposed Demands).

I would not worry too much about over developed musculature. People often tell me that theyu do not strength train because they don't want to get "big" like a body builder. Trust me, that "big" look does not just happen. Lots of calories and sleep go into it.

Have her keep wworking hard, and I am sure that both of you will be happy with the results. Smile.

No matter what, your girlfriend will likely not wind up looking like Coach Steer (cute as he is!;) ), but

This summer I trained clients in a studio owned by a female body builder. She did an hour of cardio six days a week, and lifted six days a week for several sets for each muscle group. If you do that and subsist on boiled chicken breasts and almonds, then you might run into the problem of bulking up. Other than that, it's a strawman.

I had a 60-something year old female client who was worried about bulking up. :lol:

It could happen if she worked at making it happen. But being worried that she will--oops--accidentally bulk up? I don't think she's in danger of that happening.

The misconception of being in danger of bulking up from resistance training is the natural knee-jerk reaction from the "face" of the fitness industry right now being heavily muscled steriod pumping males. I'd be scared of looking like these guys too!!!

Luckily the fitness landscape is shifting away from this sorta thing with CST and others making their mark. As this continues to happen, we'll see more of the general public be able to free themselves of the concern of turning into the Incredible Hulk or She-Hulk overnight.
