What is RMAX Sambo?

http://www.systemaaustralia.com/images/leg%20lock%2002.jpg

Russian Sambo is one of the top fighting disciplines to be represented in the realm of mixed martial arts competitions because of its real-world simplicity and toughness exemplified by fearsome fighters such as Fedor Emelianenko and Andrei Arlovski.

Sambo is a highly effective and popular grappling art that was created in Russia around the 1930's as a mix of Judo, Jujitsu and traditional Russian martial arts. Today it has various "flavours" like Sports Sambo and Combat Sambo. Scott Sonnon has taken his mastery of Sambo and many other martial arts and developed a training program that applies Sambo successfully to MMA competition:

"Although you can choose to learn Sambo as a stand-along fighting system effectively, the real uniqueness of our program is how you can integrate it into diverse skill set needs mixed martial arts competition. It’s the perfect complement to Jiujitsu, which specializes in upper-half positional fighting. Adding Coach Sonnon’s Sambo as your lower-half positional fighting strategy doubles your effectiveness on the ground, without sacrificing positional dominance typical of traditional leg lock attacks." What the deuce ! Where did this come from !?

I get married the week before and am on my honeymoon, getting back on the 24th November...and I'm in Melbourne...

Can any Sydneysiders give me an idea how far this is from Sydney airport ?

Coach Sonnon -
Are you only in Australia over that weekend ?
Anything planned in Melbourne ?

cheers
Steve

Steve,

This was a last minute opportunity that we capitalized upon. I'm on a highly ambitious media tour with television, radio and book appearances for a week. It's unlikely that I'll have time to do any other workshops considering the schedule that the PR firm is having me on.

Hope to see you there!

Damn...
I'm on a Stretch Therapy course that weekend.

Coach
I have friends and myself are very interested in a Prasara based Cert or Seminar.
If you are doing another flying visit please consider it.
We have an Tatami Mat room available at a CBD fringe location.

I realize it may not be workable this time round but please consider it as a venue if you are returning.

Steve
All the best with the Wedding!
North Sydney is about 30 min taxi from the Airport.

Agreed Andrew. It was an awesome day and I surprisingly felt fresh and "alive" after the session as opposed to how I thought I'd feel.

But can sure feel it in my butt, abs and lower back today.... good jolt to the system I suppose.

Very happy I attended and would love to bring him out more often.

Also nice meeting you Andrew.

Regards

Wesam

Sounds good. Haven't done any Sambo and I really enjoyed tasting it the other day. Haven't really done any floor grappling or wrestling for that matter except a few lessons (literally a handful) in BJJ and wrestling.

But interested in it all.

Got scotts Prassara Yoga DVD, and gonna get stuck into that.

Either way, we could focus on the Prasara flows or Take downs just nice to do it with others on mats rather then carpet or wood.
I can even bring along the laptop for referral
