What are some ways to determine if your GPP base has prepared you for SPP training?

I realize this might be sport-specific but I would think the principles would be similar no matter what the activity.

Any ideas?

Also presuming you are not preparing for a specific event, what are some good ways to gauge how long your GPP and SPP cycles should be?

Thanks in advance.

Once an exercise has become "second nature" you should be ready to "move on". I've trained with my 10# clubbells for a number of months, now I'm ready to start lifting the load by moving to 15#s. This advice is only useful in terms of increasing stregnth in relation to SPP. If your looking for SPP it involves harnessing the past GPP exercises to help you develop your own movements in relation to the particular goal that you want to achieve, IE combat aplication, coordination development etc. Becoming more detailed in your training is the key to SPP and to learning to play with your clubbells!

Michael,

It all depends on what direction your heading in. What are you preparing for?
