Anyone here get to the point later in their lives that they have the potential to effect lives in ways so much more meaningful than they are now but are stuck in modes of living (like financial) that don't allow you to?

Yes, or I was. I've always wanted to teach others to use their bodies, to improve movement qualities, help them get fit etc. but I would not risk quiting my high paying IT job to become a full time trainer.
Then this time last year I was laid off and rather than id another meaningless job in IT doing the same old crap just for someone, I decided to start teaching kettlebells full-time.
This year has been quite interesting with MANY ups & downs. I've learned a lot and helped quite a few people and I've enjoed every minute of it.
I'm not makng a fortune but I'm paying the bills.

Yes.
Through persistence and the shear will of desire you will succeed. There is nothing else.
Sometime you just have to have faith in yourself & go for what is in your heart.
Having faith and going for what is in your heart is what I believe is necessary in order to move towards what you were born to do. But don't quit your day job just yet!
If you have no family to support and can live a meager lifestyle at first I say go for it. But, if you can't put food on your table for your family than personally I say you need to put family first and do what is necessary to take care of them. Very important for me with a wife and 4 month old baby girl.
I decided to go full out with CST right after getting married. Two very big steps for me. I am very lucky in that my wife supports what I am doing 100% and we both want CST to succeed in Asia. But to let you all in on a little secret, I ended up going back to doing what I used to do on the side in order to keep CST Japan running. It has taken me well over one year to get things going so that I can start to get CST out to the masses over here.
I am now fortunate in that I have multiple investors in my company that also want to see CST florish through Asia. This is where and how I 'let the money come in' if you get what I mean.
This could turn into a VERY long discussion but I believe that the 'money' will come when you let it. (Very Zen-like, eh? :) )
In my case, I found like-minded people who could help me reach my goal of making a positive contribution to society (Service) through the teaching of CST. To name a few of them, GAORA (Sports Channel), Human Group and investors in my company.
You need to know that you can't do this alone. And don't read this as 'Money is bad and you to be a Saint!' I just believe that rather than think about 'money' to get the message out there think about the resources needed. I let it known that I wanted to make a DVD (Intu-Flow Japanese version) and it happened. Then came Prasara Primer, now the studio in Ginza, etc.
If you are constantly thinking and worrying about 'money, money, money' you will go crazy and drive people away. Believe me when I say this!
Anyways, that's my 2+ cents.

financial) that don't allow you to? Tim, I feel as though it's taken me a long time to figure out what I want to be when I grow up,
though it was probably very obvious to others. I too would like to touch the lives of others in a
direct and more meaningful way. But like Coach Hurst said, I also need to feed my family first. So
the dream waits, but it doesn't mean that I sit and wait for it to happen. Incremental progression is
an excellent way to see how our dreams/goals can turn into reality, so make a plan with goals along
the way that are challenging and realistic and do it. You'll need to revise it along the way, but we
won't get anywhere just thinking about it.

I still work about 15 hours/wk in a part time IT job to makes ends meet. I put in 16 hours/day between teaching MA, running my fitness classes and the part time job. I have classes 7 days/wk. It ain't easy that's for sure
