A query to those who may know more than I.....

Seeing as it's damn hard to obtain genuine clubbells in Oz, I have been looking at (non-home-jigged) alternatives.

Austrlian Kettlebells have a club variant called a powerclub which looks VERY similar to the genuine article.

Does anyone know if they are comparable, or whether I should just ignore them. I've bought kettlebells from Rick before and have found him to be a good person to deal with.

Also, I'm looking at picking up the clubbell book/dvd set and also the Encyclopedia set. Any tips on where to get these & how much?? I'm going to cheat and make my work library or Workcover pay for them....:D

Hi Wayne,

The big difference I can see would be that the Power Clubs are all metal, which will be very unforgiving if you clip you or a passerby or loose your grip and send one flying. Clubbells have a thick coating that provides cushion for the occational lapse in technique and a coating for grip on the handle.

Imagine what could happen if doing balistic mills and something goes wrong with an all metal club. Ouch!

Note: Since when did the name Clubbell become common?

"Our Power Clubs (http://www.kettlebells.com.au/store/Power-Clubs-p-1-c-14.html) (commonly referred to as Clubbells) have been hand crafted out of milled steel, making them unbreakable."

I think anybody who has done mills for volume has clipped their head at least once. Either that, or I suck. :D

hey guys i have bought a pair of 8kg power clubs recentely and find them too heavy for my flow work as i use kettlebells for my heavy work so would prefer a lighter pair so willing to sell them or swap for a pair of 4 or 6 kg clubs with someone, thanks.

I saw these 'powerclubs' on that website recently and was wondering if anyone had tried them. Didn't want to bring them up here in case it was frowned upon.

Personally I need one more 15lber for my clubbell collection to be suit everything I need, and I wouldn't try mixing and matching at this stage.

I guess for those starting out in Oz, this would provide a dramatically cheaper alternative.
You could buy cushioning tape and wrap them if they are all metal I guess.

There is an old saying that 'the longest distance between to points is a short cut'

At times in an effort to save money it actually end up costing you more. Often there is a trade of in quality and even safety,
as you end up back at the start of the proces to get what you really want and need.

For a distinction in Powerclubbs and Clubbells here it is:

PowerClubbs;

-knob size limits amount of CST exercises able to be used by powerclub design
-handle grip slickness makes it dangerous
-method of manufacture makes it prone to breakage
-weak structural point in handle barrel connection
-no protective coating makes learning exercises or slight movement error a high risk danger
-no safety lanyard for optimal begginer safety

Clubbells;

Their design, manufacture and application have stood the test of time and been used all over the world by weekend warriors and elite individuals from all walks of life.

The have been specifically designed out of exhaustive trials and testing in swinging weights technology, specifically for circular resistance training by the pioneer and creator himself Coach Sonnon.

It is always what you can't see that makes the difference, what variations and knock offs don't have is the subtlties in years of research and development in design and functionality of use in swinging weight application.

Ultimately Clubbells are an extension of you. Don't gamble and comprimise on the integrity of you in your CST practice.

For the tribe in OZ the Flow Academy is working with Coach Sonnon and RMAX to be able to provide you with all of the official, proven equipment and associated material at the best possible prices. Get in contact with us and let us know how we can best support you in you CST practice.

As we are in pre launch mode since November 2007 when coach Sonnon was here to kick things off. This April will see the official Launch of Flow Academy and set up of the set pricing and opportunities for the market.

I am excited about the opportunities ahead and look forwrad to working with everyone as we fly the CST flag downunder.

Hurrah!!!!!! They've Arrived!!!

Thanks to the generosity of WorkCover (:D) and Flowacademy, I now have a set each of 10's and 15's.

I am very impressed. The quality is first-rate and they feel good to handle.

They DO however feel slightly weird at times. As described elsewhere, they do indeed feel much heavier than they should when you pick them up with no choke.

[Get home from work.....woo-hoo, they're heeeere!!. Pick up box....hmmm, not really that heavy. Take metal baseball bat out of box, & hold via end.....dayum, how did that happen....it's heavier now!!??. Mother of God, that was the LIGHT one...!! Frantic thoughts of "Quick, crack open the complimetary bottle of RMax Kool-aid!! Glug glug. Ahh, that's better......suddenly I have the strength of 10....huzzah!! ;) "]

I'm looking forward to the experience. I'm just waiting on some instructional material, so I know what I'm doing...

Cheers

Wayne

ps note to Brad. If you've not accessed your flowacademy address.....I've pm'ed you re the postage issue (which btw for everybody, was VERY much in my favour. Thank you very much for the great service, Brad. I'm looking forward to our session in just over a week).
