I know that eating clean is first priority, but are there essential supplements that one should take for an athletic lifestyle?

When people ask me about supplements I ask them so you have money to spend on supplements? Most of them answered, "Yes, I have extra money that I can spend on supplements." My second question is how much are they currently spending on eating organic, fresh, and local fruits and veggies? How much are you spending on grass fed meats and/or natural raised meats, poultry, and seafood? How much time and resources are they spending on learning how to prepare their foods and learning about nutrition. If you can see where I am going, then you can figure out that my position is a sound long term investment in wholesome food, food preparation and cooking, and nutritional education. Because, in the long run, it is best to master the dietary basics FIRST and nutritional supplement LAST. In general, the supplement business wants you to eat unwholefoods and be ignorant about nutrition. Please consider eating better instead of spending your resources on supplements.
PS: If you really interested in supplementation, then go get a check up with your sport doc and ask for his or her recommendations. With your blood work report and etc you will know what you really need.
