greetings-I am totally new to the clubells-I have recently purchased a pair of 15#'s but am really quite unsure what do do with them-I would like to incorporate them into what I already do. I am 5'10" 195# w/ approx. 11-12% bf. I am fairly strong and in decent shape ad do combatives for skill work. I do interval running a couple times a week and primarily do compound freeweight movements-bench, chins, dips, deads, rows, cleans, etc. I am not necessarily looking to gain, but who could complain with a hack-n-pack, like coach sonnon puts it :D I am primarily interested in functional hypertrophy-as coach szolek puts it. I read chris shugarts review in t-mag and would like to use my clubs on the days I lift before I weight train as a warm-up....is this ok? What kind of general start up would you suggest-movemets, reps, etc? Or should I just do clubs for a couple of weeks? HELP!?!?!

I have been reading the archives and it may appear that I am cocktailing my approaches. I do not have the book (yet), so your help becomes a little more necessary.

Thanks in advance.

Tim,
If you just got the Clubbells, take some time and get familiar with the basic exercises. Get a "feel" for them. After that, I think you've already figured out what you want...

What are your goals with your "conventional" weight training?

coach, I have tried a couple of times to post before, but my computer is somewhat wack and didn't let me. But my general goals with the traditional weights were to simply get stronger for combatives (full-body, compound movements, heavy weights, fairly low reps and low rest periods) in order to get as strong as I can and stay as relatively lean as I can.

I am starting the process of refinement in my club movement and starting to get the hang of things with a lot of room for improvement and the book should be arriving today!

If you were looking for something to give you the edge in regard to combatives, congrats, your search is over.

Now that you have the book, things will be a lot clearer for you.

Let me know how it goes and if you need any help, give me a holler.

good luck,
