We're heading deep South and taking all of our RMAX athletes with us! We haven't hit the South East yet, and it's time we honor our Rebels beneath the Mason-Dixon.

Time to get to our annual camp. Due to last year's limited time, we're going 3 days, and we're also focusing on your main delivery systems, how you will progress fastest in developing timing and rhythm: that's how well you do against your teammates and other martial artists.

In other words, this year's camp focuses exclusively on: boxing, kickboxing, throws/takedowns (Judo flavor) and submission fighting (Sambo flavor).

This will again be a certification seminar, so we will be testing athletes for Team RMAX. If you're a returning RMAX athlete and have been doing your homework, you're on deck!

Okay, so here's the overview of our curriculum:

RMAX BOXING

In the RMAX Boxing module, athletes will be put through the paces while learning to increase power, speed and effiiency through the integration of BREATHING, STRUCTURE and ALIGNMENT. How to drastically improve performance by understanding how to transion without leaving oneself vulnerable to attack will also be covered as well as specific and uniquely RMAXed exercises and drills which will skyrocket performance instantly.

Topics covered will be:
· The basics and correct mechanics.
· The most efficient and efective way to increase power through proper alignment.
· Using proper mechanics in order to reduce dangerous "transition time".
· How to remain effortlessly defensive while attacking.
· Methods to increase hip drive that result in a power increase instantly.
· How to correctly strike to, in and from the clinch.
· All this and much more!
The RMAX Boxing approach seamlessly blends with the other delivery systems as taught in FlowFighting®®. The translation is, what's true in grappling and ground-fighting is true in striking. Good mechanics don't change because your delivery system does. The foundational mechanics remain true to the 7 key principles of CST.

RMAX offers a boxing approach that creates a true unification of mechanics and skills that translate to any venue. Whether your a boxer, kickboxer, Sanshou/Kuoshu, MMA athlete or in it for self-defense and self-protection, RMAX Boxing will add volumes to your training knowledge and understanding and ramp up your performance.

The "strongest man in RMAX" Brandon Jones will take you through owning generaliship of the ring, as a former amateur boxer, the only Navy CT ever recommended to teach hand to hand combat for SEALs school, multiple ranking internal martial artist in several styles, former sparring partner for champions such as Kathy Long, author of Going Ballistic: CST for Boxing and the upcoming FlowBox.

RMAX KICKBOXING

Just as in the RMAX Boxing module, in the RMAX Kickboxing athletes will be put through the paces while learning to increase power, speed and efficiency through the integration of BREATHING, STRUCTURE and ALIGNMENT. Our kickboxing strategy focuses on improving your performance by learning how to transition smoothly between boxing and stand-up grappling without exposing you to unnecessary dangers. Our drills and skills will give you a powerhouse leg fighting system, but more importantly, the platform and timing to apply them.

Topics covered will be:
· The basics and correct mechanics of kicking and knee strikes
· The most efficient and effective way to increase power through proper alignment
· Using proper transition mechanics to go from kicking to boxing seamlessly
· Other transition that go straight from kicking into grappling
· How to utilize lead leg dynamics (lead leg kicking is becoming a lost art-how to use your lead leg effectively in MMA and kickboxing)
· Methods to increase “relaxed power” in your rear leg kicking
· The side kick-a new twist on an old technique (why most people cannot land this powerful kick)
· The real role of flexibility in kicking
· How and why timing is more important than speed in kicking
· And as much more as time and assimilation allows! We need to glove up and apply these in real time against our teammates.
The RMAX Boxing and Kickboxing approach seamlessly blends with the other delivery systems as taught in FlowFighting®®. Again, what you will find true in boxing, grappling or groundfighting, stays universal: good mechanics are good mechanics. They don't change because your delivery system does, and we'll be showing you how the 7 key principles of CST in your daily personal practice will instantly translate into your fighting efficacy. RMAX Kickboxing will be appropriate regardless of your concentration: Sanshou/Kuoshu, MMA, Self-defense, et cetera...

Joseph Wilson, owner of the most successful martial art school in the Deep South, will be teaching you this module, as a national AAU bare-knuckle and international Sanshou champion, defensive tactics instructor for the largest department in Memphis, and author of FlowMotion: Joint Mobility for Martial Arts, Freedom of Movement and FlowFighting®® Kickboxing 101.

RMAX JUDO:

Throws/Takedowns

RMAX Judo is not just about throwing, sweeping, tripping nor picking up an opponent and taking them to the ground. Anyone with a bit of practice can do that. The throws and takedowns of RMAX Judo concentrate on seamlessly transitioning from the standup clinch to the ground game. Basically, a good throw does not mean (or potentially end) a fight. We will teach you how much energy to place in a throw/takedown so that you can choose to land in positional dominance and maintain position... and throwing habits which put you in an inferior position. This ain't Judo for entertainment throws, but takedowns to win!

In RMAX Judo, we will focus on the two things that can determine the outcome of the fight from the clinch.
1. Firstly, how to go from the stand up clinch and place your opponent on the ground in a strategic position allowing you to access your ground game on your terms.
2. And secondly, what to do in order to have the upper hand in the clinch. In other words, how not to be thrown.
All of the mechanics learned in the RMAX Boxing and Kickboxing modules will blend in perfectly here, through a unique approach called the "Intersection" - a tactic which will coalesce your over-all fighting game seamlessly.

The 7 Key Components of CST will present themselves in the four mechanical forces of throws and takedowns:
1. Supporting/posting leg
2. Driving/mobile leg
3. Locking/securing arm
4. Power transfer/delivering arm
Inserting this unique 4x7 formula into your throws and takedowns will give you a method for connecting your conditioning practice immediately to your fighting prowess!

All the way from Osaka, Japan, Ryan Hurst, brings you this module as a former member of the powerful Minatoku Police Judo Team, nationally ranked former USA Junior National Gymnastics Team Athlete, author of the Prasara Primer Book and Joint Wellness, and who is regularly featured on GAORA Television (Japan's equivalent to ESPN) for his incredible Prasara for Judo conditioning methods.

RMAX SAMBO:

Submission Fighting

This ain't your Uncle Ivan's Sambo! RMAX Sambo is a positional grappling approach to submission fighting. Unlike traditional Sambo, this is not a free-wrestling approach. You will learn how to systematically isolate, control and maintain the bottom-half game with the same concentration that Jiujitsu concentrates on the top-half game.

You'll walk away with the basics of how to enter, secure and properly apply the high-percentage leg attacks: foot lock, heel hook, ankle lock, Achilles sub, knee bar, knee compression and double ankle lock. But this isn't a leg-lock seminar!

In the RMAX Sambo module, you'll first learn the specific mechanics of our positional fighting bottom-half game, that aren't taught anywhere else: the Saddle, Side-Saddle and Reverse Saddle. This is worth the price of admission alone, because it's just the only approach in the world like it.

You'll also learn:
· How to enter the bottom-half positions directly from classic, high-percentage takedowns such as the double and single leg.
· How to transition from middle and top half game positions: cross-side, knee on diaphragm, head/arm, N/S, mount and side mount.
· How to enter the positions from the bottom such as in turtle, back mount and half guard.
· How to attack the guard with bottom-half positional fighting including against the spider, butterfly, seated, and of course open as well as closed.
· How to transition from guard to the saddle using a unique tactical flow of attacking neck-shoulder-hip and back to neck.
· How to attack the saddle positions to defend yourself by using his leg triangle against him!
· And of course, if time permits, there will be plenty of cool new entries RMAX fighters are creating, like the new Suicide Cradle.
These are just a sample of the fun to come being brought to you by legendary Sambo Master of the West: former USA National Sambo Team Coach, an International Champion winning the majority of his matches by leg lock submissions, nominee for the "Pioneer of American Sambo" award, and recipient of the most coveted athletic distinction in the former USSR - the Honourable Masters of Sport in Sambo - one of only a handful ever to earn the distinction outside of Russia - Scott Sonnon. As the Chief Operations Officer of RMAX, he brings you more than this module, but brings you a team of the most effective coaches in martial art history.

He intends to have a separate book signing for his new release slated for October published by Paladin Press as it's new "martial art legend." Watch the bookshelves!

RMAX MMA:

Bringing It All Together!

RMAX Boxing, Kickboxing, Judo and Sambo may appear to be separate modules, but you will experience them integrate together into a total approach to fighting the toughest opponent you could face: your teammates. They will know what's coming and you will have the ability to hit these mechanics and tactics anyway.

Our environment is one of playful competitiveness for long-term enjoyment. We won't be seeing injury after injury, because developing into strong fighters requires that you're not sitting on the bench nursing a hurt joint.

That's why FlowFighting®® is perfectly complemented and ideally suited to work with the Circular Strength Training® System. They're two wheels of the same cart, since CST was originally created as a system of improving conditioning specific to fighting efficacy.

We're very excited to have you all there at RMAX Memphis, Faculty Coach Wilson's gym - the largest in the South! All of our faculty will be present to give you 100% of our energy, expertise, enthusiasm and excellence. We may believe in the necessity of mixed martial art competition, but we don't believe in punk-jitsu. We're traditional in our hearts, though inclusive in our MMA goals. So, we're going to give you everything we have, and only expect that you learn as much as you can, have as much fun as you can and remember as many stories as possible to tell your teammates at home when you return.

We've had RMAX athletes win MMA championships. We intend to see more and build more now. But you don't have to enter into a competition if you just love rolling with your teammates. We're in this because we just love training together, and all of the creativity we create through that positive, generative environment.

RMAX COMBAT:

Alive and Real!

In this year's camp we will be including a special clinic on applying the improved nervous system timing and rhythm gained through MMA into the sphere of actual combat engagements: pre-fight, post-fight and of course, the concerns of actual hostile subject control in the fight itself. The FlowFighting®® Coaches have a diverse background of application from law enforcement hostile subject control, military close-quarters battle, close-security executive protection, doorman bouncing and civilian self-defense. You will learn how to technically excel when the it matters most: under the pressure of actual imminent jeopardy!

So, get yourself booked now. We're closing off this certification seminar at 40 athletes this time. We can't accept anymore or we'll have to invite the Memphis Fire Chief so we can get around the fire hazard.

See you in the South: October 17-19, 2008 for the best, most diverse and interesting fighting camp in North America!

We are waiting to see the numbers to find out if it will be at my new school. The new school, is a bit smaller, so if we have to many people we may have to have it off site but either way, it will be awesome!! Smile.

I'm thinking if this past ones numbers are any indication, you might need a larger site!

Preferably one with a hot tub! But for recovery purposes only! :)

I would love to attend. What are the prereq's? I have been doing IntuFlow for about a month and have a couple of years martial arts experience. I plan to move into FlowFit shortly, then Prasara. Would I be advanced enough by October to attend?

Michael,

There is still plenty of time to get ready for this seminar in October. You really should try and attend. You will have a BLAST!! :)

Michael,

Last year, I had a tumultuous summer, so my training was rather lacking for a couple months. I just put my mind to it, and I was able to get moving well enough to be prepared for the FF seminar when November rolled around. Just keep doing what you're doing, and you'll do just fine in October. And if there's a CST instructor or coach near you, try to get a training session. That can make a world of difference.

Thank you both for the advice. Coach, count me in for October!
