This may sound a little strange, but I play kickball on a city league, and we just had our first game of the season. Since I've recently discovered this forum as a wonderful resource, I'm hoping someone here can help me with a problem. After a full game, the muscle in the front of my shin (don't know the technical name) will get so exhausted that it will literally quit working. When this happens, I can't even lift my toes at all. I believe this comes about from slowing down and stopping after reaching full sprint speed. Is there a particular RMAX exercise or exercises that could either keep this from happening, or help me recover if (when) it happens again? Also, should I look into changing my running mechanics (specifically stopping) to address this issue or do I just need more strength there?
Any help would be most appreciated.
Thanks,

Isaac,
You may want to look into the RMAX Powered Running DVD. There is a section that deals with sprinting, plus lot's of running related warm-up and cool-down exercises -- RMAX style :D .
(There were a lot of kickball leagues back in D.C. I always thought it would be fun to try -- at least once)

Hey Isaac,
In addition to the above, perhaps some one legged squat variations to develop the stabalizing local-muscle endurance in your ankles/shins. In addition, lots of ankle circles!

Good idea Brian, I have the RMAX powered running DVD and I'll reveiw the sprinting section. This might be a little different though because I think it comes from stopping the sprint quickly (in order to not over-run the base).
Sean, that's good to hear, because that's exactly what I've got in my current 4x7 program, and I'll be sure to ankle circles while sitting at my desk as much as possible.
