View Full Version : Shortest Path to Enlightenment?

Hi all,

I'm a lapsed CST (from the "doomed cadre") who has only recently returned to the forum and my personal CST practice. However, I feel a little bit like a square dancing senior citizen who's stumbled into a rave accidently.

While I'm still talking about doing warrior wellness and be breathed, you young whippersnappers are doing "melancholy warthog into incontinent rabbit", I'm pretty sure was one and "flaming scorpion hurricane" I think was another.

In other words, a lot of my nomenclature and conceptual understanding appears to be out of date as RMAX has continued to evolve while I was out of the loop.

So, what would be the most direct course of action to get reoriented?

Best,

KC

Kevin,

I think you'll find it a lot easier to catch up than it seems right now. There was a thread somebody started about definitions, but I'm not getting the right words into the search engine.

In the meantime, what specific questions do you have? Did you find a reference to ground scorpion, or elevated scorpion perhaps?

So, what would be the most direct course of action to get reoriented?

Best way, in my opinion, would be to pick up one of the newer releases that interests you and is in line with your current training goals, and dive in. Having the verbage down isn't particularly useful without the experience anyway. Ageless Mobility will give you a TON of bang for your buck in that regard, esp. given your profession.

Thank you for the rapid response, Coach. First off, since this is not my first rodeo, I'm less concerned about the verbiage and more about the "conceptual understanding". My primary interests are to rapidly assimilate all concepts related to the "3 wings of CST". I'm not necessarily looking to piecemeal a bit of this and a bit of that. I'm talking total immersion, baby. Like moving to France with just a backpack, a corkscrew and a translation book. I'm just wondering if something like the Core Cadre would be a worthwhile step, or if I'm better suited going to an Intu-Flow or Prasara or Ageless Mobility. My goal is recertification with style.

And once again, thank you for your considered and timely response. It is truly appreciated.

Best,

KC

Recertification with style, hmmm? Assuming you're going to the August cert, here's what I would do given the time you have.

Spend a month working with Ageless Mobility and Intuflow, alternating days between them.

Spend a month working the 4x7 program without any alterations to the program.

Spend a month working on your swipes, mills, and 2H hammer throws for volume (aka the Trial by Fire) Pick one (and I mean ONE) flow from the Prasara Instructional DVD during this month.

Spend a month intensely studying Flowfit, moderating intensity like you learned in the 4x7 program. Pick another flow from the Prasara instructional to study.

If you have any energy left, search the forum and ask questions about your experiences, and read the new Prasara and Clubbell book. Core cadre membership would be a great extra for asking specific questions about your training of the coaching staff. But I'd ask that you save most of your reading for post-workout. The concepts that are going to be meaningful, practical and useful to you at a cert are the ones that are going to arise out of your practice - what you've embodied. Your head will not make you look good. :)

Sound like a plan?

Great answer. Thank you.

(And yes, certification with style. When it comes to doing the do, I am not playin' around.)

At the moment, it's really looking grim for me making it in August. I'm untangling some administrative "issues" with my practice and it's looking doubtful I'd be able to sign up by the deadline. *sigh* But, I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Best,

KC

Oh, and my head almost always makes me look good. :D (Though can be kind of scary first thing in the morning.)

"flaming scorpion hurricane" I think was another.

"Tornado Dragon Twist", perhaps? :D

Wow, Coach Bentz's advice is so good, I think I'll take it myself before the next cert I attend.

As I mentioned before, Kevin, it's good to see you back, even better to see you back in spades, so to speak, with such drive and motivation. Things are good on this end - I plug away at my snail's pace, but improvements do happen. And seeing the changes from your perspective of "a while ago", helps me appreciate the ton of stuff I've learned (I try not to dwell much on the ten tons+ I have yet to learn. :) )

BINGO!!! :D

You know Jeanne, we all move at the right pace for us. You and I have discussed that before and besides, I'm betting that your "snail's pace" is plenty fast!

okey-dokey. Intu-Flow is on route even as we speak. Wasn't there one flow name that was kind of racy? Something about a dolphin??? Or was I hallucinating?

Also, is Coach Sonnon still blogging on his daily routine? I always found those very instructional and inspiring.

Diving Dolphin, perhaps? It's in the Prasara series. And speaking of aquatic life, yes, there's some changes between Warrior Wellness and Intu-Flow - not a mullet to be seen, for instance in the 2-DVD set. ;)

Coach is not doing that currently, probably just to preserve us mortals from dying of exhaustion just watching him. :D

He is doing webisodes in the Core Cadre section of the Forum, and there's more material on his Flow Coach blog.

There was also "Dog Screwing Dolphin" :D . Which was a short KC that was incorporated into Diving Dolphin.

Mayyyyyybeeee. But I'm pretty sure that the Dolphin wasn't "diving". ;) As a matter of fact, I think Coach was going to name it something, but didn't because it was too risque. I'm fairly positive that's it.

And as for the mullet, gotta be honest, I'm going to miss it. Personally, it was a good look for me. :D Used to rock the "Lethal Weapon" mullet myself. (Unfortunately, that was just last week.)

Good book, and excellent series. Gotta love Douglas Adams!

See? Now didn't you guys miss me? I'm betting there weren't too many threads that included, bad hair, fornicating dolphins and Douglas Adams while I was away.

btw, his "Dirk Gently" detective series was also very promising. Mr. Adams is definitely missed.

Kevin,

I'm looking forward to your creation of the "Fornicating Dolphin Flow" :D

omg, I'm never getting that out of my head. I'm also hearing that tittery dolphin noise and the soundtrack to "Flipper". :D
