I was asked to post this to the forum. It never ceases to please me to see people from around the world enjoying extreme benefits of the art and sport of the Clubbell. Japan finally joins the Tribe!

The Caveman Emerges...
To the distain of the FedEx man, they arrived today.
Two wonderful cylindrical slabs of iron and rubber weighing 15 lbs, (6.8 kilos) a piece. My new Clubbells.

If you have been following my previous posts I mentioned Clubbells briefly. Basically, they are one of the oldest forms of weightlifting known to man predating forms of modern plate and dumb bell orientated exercise mechanisms. Just think 'Caveman' and I think you can get the idea.
They are sometimes referred to as 'Indian Clubs' but have been the primary tool for Indian, Iranian, Russian, English and numerous other cultures for sometimes hundreds of years.
Picking up a 15lbs club is an eye opening experience. It does not feel like 15 lbs. Because of its weight distribution, thicker towards the head, your body as a whole has to work together for stabilization of this acient weapon. Therefore making it a complete body workout in just trying to use it properly.

Modern weights only allow for movement in a selected range of movement. However, because of the nature, design, of the club, you are able to use the weight freely in all ranges of the body. Basically, circular movement can be used with the club allowing complete range of movement and full development through all the ranges.
Besides all that I have just listed there are two other reasons that I decided to purchase this prehistoric piece of equipment.
It feels good to swing this hunk of iron around! Your grip works overtime when swinging something and you also have to be mentally into the moment in order not to injure yourself. Thus, you are also working on concentration and establishing that 'in the moment' frame of mind.

Lastly, it just looks cool! Today I got sooooo many looks from passer-bys while working out in the little park by my house. You know, the 'what the hell is this foreigner doing' look.
After my workout of trying to get the feel of these two caveman sticks, I could tell that these are the only tools I will be needing to REALLY get into some serious shape. I pride myself for being in good shape, but this is going to take me to the next level. I can already tell that.
For the first time in a very long time I felt really good after my workout. I really didn't want to stop because I was having so much fun but in order to keep myself from overtraining for the day I finally put them to bed. I absolutely LOVE to excercise, but never before have I found myself looking forward to my next workout like I am with the Clubbells.
This may seem like an advertisement for the Clubbell. In a way it might be. I think that we will see a re-emergence of this ancient tool in the ever changing world of health. I think we need to get back to the natural side of ourselves. This might just be one of the tools that aids in getting people back into that frame of mind.
We will see what the following months bring for me but I have a feeling that the shape of Ryan will be changing. In all aspects of health.
