Last fall, I was asked to be involved in a yoga video called "Yoga at Play". Winalee Zeeb, one of the top NIA(Neuromuscular Integrated Action) instructors and one of Michigan's top yoga instructors, along with being a world class diver.

I'd only attended a couple of her NIA classes. NIA is just a combo of light jazz dancing with more of a loose yoga concept. I was surprised to be asked, for few men do this and even fewer who look like me.

Anyway, we had our premier last week. It was hard to watch for I am critical of myself and a little insecure. Many people in the audience were surprised that I had never actually taken a "Yoga Play" class, for(they said, I was the best one in the video), when the other people in the video were devoted students of "Yoga Play".

I explained to them the concept of "BodyFlow" and how by sophistocating your movement, you can adapt to almost any new movement pattern without any trouble.

Mr. Sonnon claimed this to be true. I was skeptical until I did this video.

I was nervous initially, but when I heard Scott's words in the background of my mind, I just relaxed and told myself my body would think for me.

The movements were compiled of basic yoga asanas with a nice playful flow that turns into almost a dance. Singing is involved also. (I just moved my lips). It's very loose and nonjudgemental. Something many would like who are bored with static yoga.

I write this not to boast, but to restate the value of sophistocated movement. Thanks, Scott!

Robert

Have you ever tried your hand at Contact Improv? I've been meaning to have a go at it for ages, but never seem to be in the right palce at the right time.

If you've tried it, I'd be curious to hear your opinion.

Currently, I'm involved with a dance organization called "Interplay". It involves movement and storytelling. We do quite a bit of contact improve. That program sounds great. I'd love to try it.
