View Full Version : Help -Need program for preparation of CST July certification
Hi all,
Loooking for advice from those who have gone through the CST certification. I am purchasing a pair of 5lb this week and want to start preparing for the July Certification. I haven't decided if I want to actually get "certifified" ( i.e. take test, etc) but I will definately want to be prepared if I do decide to go this route. I will also be purchasing the Clubbell® Training For Circular Strength VIDEO to help me get started. Any suggestions, advice would be greatly appreciated. Aslo would like some advice from the women who have gone through the course if possible. Men, I don't discriminate your advice is welcome too! :P

Dear Kim,
Please accept my recommendation that you NOT decide before you go to Phillie if you want to certify or not.
As I am not a professional trainer, certification does not have a financial reward for me. However, the extra effort and focus expended during the training based upon the expectation of certification allowed me to take more with me than if I had not. Besides its more fun too! :-)
Good luck.

Kim,
Other must reads for certification are Body Flow and Clubbell Training for Circular Strength.

Kim, first off pay attention to Jorge, he's got a lot of good to share.
As for the specifics of prep. training, I'd say spend a couple weeks learning the skill of all of the exercises and then decide which ones you seem to enjoy more than others. Take those and build a combination routine out of them (and if you need help we are all here for you) and plug that combo into a Density Cycle.
My reasoning for this is that by focusing on a select few movements that you really enjoy you will learn all the in's and out's of CST more efficiently than if you tried to search out the principles of CST in every exercise.
Let me know what you think and if you've got a few moves in mind then I'll be happy to assist you in getting to know everything there is to know about those exercises so that you can then take that expertise and transfer it to every exercise.
Hope to see you in Philly in July :)
In faith,
Jorge:
Thanks for the suggestions on the reading material I will definately pick up these two books also. And with regards to certification, I'll see if it might be good financially as I am a personal trainer but I'm just getting started in the field and I really haven't established a client base yet.
Coach Szolek:
Thanks for the help I will spend some time getting the basics of all the exercises. As far as building a combo routine I will report back on which exercises I like and get more specifics on building that Densisty Cycle. I've read some other posts on density cycles so I have an understanding a little of what is involved. The workout is twice a day, am and pm, with active rest day in between. Right?

Kim,
the Double Density is the one to which you refer. It is a great option but one that requires most (if not all) of your recovery abilities so if you have other mandatory training that you do for your career or extra curricular activities then you may do better with a singular Density cycle which involves one workout a day 1-3 times a week.
There are really a lot of options to customize this to your goals and needs so I think the best thing to do what you've stated that you're going to do; figure out which exercises you like and then figure out how to use them to reach your goals of fitness and health.
 You know I think an "active exploration" log would be a welcome bit of diversity to the Training Programs Log, so if you're up for it feel free to post your thoughts about your exploration of CST exercises.
In any case, when you know what you like and what you want peg me here at the help desk if you want some help structuring a program.
In faith,
Ok, will do. And I will definately keep the log. That's a good idea. The only other workout I will be doing is working with my KB and getting my technique better with that.
