Hello,

I imagine I already know the answer to this, but sometimes it is nice to ensured.

If I have no access to a pullup bar on a regular basis, but I do train with CB's, intu flow, and prasara flows regularly, will I be back be getting properly trained?

I have very sporadic access to a pullup bar, and I would hate to cause in imbalance by missing out on a this movement.

Thanks
V

V,

By sporadic, do you mean, I'll see a pullup bar in (say) January, then won't see one again until April? Or something else?

Also, what's your tree situation? Any low hanging limbs you can make use of? Do you have any children's parks nearby?

funny you mention trees, i do alot of trail running/hiking and i do pullups whenever i can. The reason I ask is because I used to have a chin up bar that fit in a door way, but we moved to new house with taller ceilings and wider doorways and it doesn't fit any more.

So I am hoping to rig something up, but until then, I was just concerned, and sort of thinking about how complete a clubbell workout is in terms of hitting every muscle adequately.

To be sure, you can work your whole body with a Clubbell, and work all the same muscles that are also involved in a pullup. You'll get blood flow in there, adaptation, the whole nine yards.

But, you're not going to be working them quite the same way with a Clubbell as if you were training pullups. Short of mounting the Clubbell in the doorway (boy that'd be expensive! :) ) you're not going to be training that 'pulling from the sky' action, as Coach Sonnon talks about in the 4x7 program.

How have you trained pullups in the past? Where do they fit in your training program? Do you focus on them for periods of time? Squeeze them in whenever the opportunity or the thought arises? Something else?

Coach Sonnon had a thread about a DIY pull-up bar for doorways. If you search for it and can't find it let me know, but I'll let you do the initial digging for it. As I recall, it could be designed for any width of door within reason.

In the past, pullups were the pillar of my workouts. So I am going to definitely do my best to put something together, it is almost summer time here so I may even build a nice pullup rack in the back yard, who knows.

Thanks for the heads up Kathryn!

This should do the trick - though I haven't actually built one yet myself:

I hope you're fond of a bit of DIY ;)
