over the years, I've noticed that linear weight training tends to bind my body up badly--the amount of time I spend stretching adds prohibitively to the overall workout time. Kettlebells were better in this regard, but I noticed that Clubbells didn't bind me NEARLY as much. So at the recent CST certification gathering in Bellingham, when I had a chance to watch the Bruiser at close range, something stirred inside me. When Coach Szolek was kind enough to give me a copy of his Anabolic Bruiser Conditioning manual (which is excellent) I devoured it, and decided that this was the way to go. My specific intent was to increase my muscle mass without decreasing mobility. Well, it arrived yesterday, and this monster is frightening. My goal is (eventually) a 100-rep death march with oh, say, a Gama Cast, but I'm happy to start with GTG clean to orders. The shock as the Bruiser settles in hits deep, deep fibers in my thighs, even at very low reps. Believe me, I'm going to take it very very slow, and see how my body handles the increasing load over time. Slow and steady. But quite honestly, with a piece of equipment like this, it is easy to see how to develop all the functional strength any sane human being could ever want.
Thanks, Doug, and Scott, and Torque athletics--what an adventure ahead!
