And damn am I sore today. Did a lot of stupid human tricks like dragon flags, pistols, 1 arm 1 leg pushups, pullups holding a 53lb KB w/ feet -and did the whole thing 2x/3 hours total.

Gave us a very cool tour of the weapons room. The 6 shot shotgun was definitely the highlight of that. The snipers keep their rifles in hard sheel cases locked up tight.

50 or so guys total, couple of big Bodybuilder and PL types, mostly averege. They currently have no PT test, but only 2 or 3 guys out of the whole group could be called fat. At least 1/2 were pretty solid.

The good part is there was much better response then I anticipated. I talked and demoed for an hour each time, then told them to come up after if they wanted to try the KBs or take a shot at any of the BW stuff.

No bites on trying Dragon flags but they loved the KBs. Watching me and my friend Dave (Woody) do snatches and jerks they must have thought they were pretty light. All these 250lb bruisers came up and hefted them and were shocked. The CO is ordering 2 sets and I'm going back. Next time will bring a Clubell - thought it was already overload for 1 seminar and I think KBs are easier to "get".

Talked about and gave a quick demo of warrior wellness and the concept of joint mobility v. "stretching" and warmup. They liked that as they don't get to "warm up" before a call out. Most of them seem to have a lot of dings.

Talked about Pavel's tension and power breathing, the Crossfit philosophy of "extreme" athlete's v. general readiness. Circuits, ladders, GTG, joint mobility etc..gave them a hand out of articles and websites.

Fun for me, and judging from the COs reaction, he being an old school type guy, I think they got it. The SWAT guys tend to be a little older and I think seeing a 44 year old guy doing this stuff connected with them.

Thanks for the help from the guys who gave me tips.

Kudos, Bill. SWAT personnel aren't easily impressed.

Excellent Bill,

I have been a Police Officer in the City of Milwaukee, WI (yeah I know, you can make fun of me, I said Milwaukee!) for 5 years now, and CST & and RKC have made a tremondous impact on my work performance. Typically bodybuilding is just not applicable nor possible if you are involved in hard core city police work. The extra weight (puffy muscle) slows you down and you can't chase or fight with a suspect if you're to damn sore from the typically BB routine. Due to clubbells, I feel that I am stronger than ever when trying to handcuff a combative drug dealer who I just chased 2 blocks, and I don't feel winded! Could you touch more on some of the Clubbell techniques you taught and the SWAT guys and gals response to those? Thanks in advance!

Way to go, Paul !!!!

Functional strength in the perilous situation for those who put themselves out there for others.

Cheers

Thank you Randell,

The core and grip strength that we get from CST is true functional strength, in my humble opinion! Take care!

Bill,

I'm sorry, I read your post quickly and skipped over the fact that you said you'd bring a clubbell next time. When you do, what drills and routines will you teach? Thanks again in advance,

Paul
