Most saturday mornings we train from 7am through to 12 midday.
Today: James, Tom, Richard and myself.

Exploring Aspects of :

(i) Be Breathed.

(ii) Warrior Wellness (Beginner Level revisit).

(iii) Determining and controlling the Centre of Mass (CoM) of the Clubbell:
The physics and physical manifestations of the nature of pulling /pushing forces, pendulums and twirling (about end and mid-point nodes of arnis stick length, taiji short stick length and staff length, both light and weighted) with associated natural frequncies/ periods, feeling different moment arms of masses real and virtual, drills emphasing bend back and hip snap to drive pedulums, importance of elbow pits to sky to assist , importance of drawing in clubbells from pendulum to twirling motion and back to pendulum (as in Mills and Swipes ect) with transitions of continual changing acceleration to eliminate all "clunks"/ rapidly developed forces throughout the motions. (Think how traffic engineers designing a right angle turn start with a gentle curve before building into the actual radius of the corner, and similarly on the way out so the acceleration/forces upon the car and body to traverse the corner builds slowly, peaks and then reduces gently.) Aspects of pushing the clubbells initially to catch and so control the Centre of Mass(CoM) as it moves into the pulling component in Pendulums and Circles, both in Sagittal and Coronal planes, and reeling in/returning the clubbell through the top of its floating phase to catch back in order and flag positions. Went through "Josh's Six-Shooters" to highlight added control of CoM in exercises like the Mill. Tying all back into back bend, hip snap, and shoulder packed positions protocols. Working from the 5's through to 25's and back to ensure above concepts above do work right across the diverse range of exercises and combinations.( "You can't lie to the bruiser" - I haven't had a Bruiser sent out yet but even the 25's reveal whether the concepts attempted to be described above are properly appreciated by the body.)

(iv) Applying afore mentioned concepts into a 5 minute set of Swipes to experience 1st, 2nd, 3rd gears etc whilst focusing on these different aspects. A good experience for all - average RPE 7+. Preping the crew to get ready for a Density program

(v) "Bash & Bang" - highlighted to Richard some of the nature & different "personalities" of variety of differents strikes. Introduced importance of Shock Absortion and how body functions as a Tensegrity redirecting heavy localized strikes into ground or returning strike etc with any part of body. Highlighted "enabling" concepts. Developed sequence and used sequence driver to hardwire some strikes to sternum, external cutaneous nerve, internal cutaneous nerve, kidneys and coccyx bone targets. Richard had go at being the bodybag, learnt when to squeal and tap out etc before any fear reactivity can set in etc. Fair bit of emphasis on highlighting some of physiological and psychological responses Rich was naturally experiencing. James, Tom and I played for a while doing freestyle stuff to get back into getting hit harder and going to/being taken to the ground etc.

A good general intro for Rich into some of the deeper intricacies, and good revisit to basics for James and Tom. Got the blood flowing for all, all took away exercises to work on before next week - basically had to kick them out and send them off home otherwise we'd still be there.

Cheers

Big week - seriously burnt out and little sleep - striving to fit in too much & my body is more revolting than ever - pun there - seriously though, my blood pressure is saying big time - slow up !!!!
[3:15 pm]
(i) Be Breathed™ basics. (5 mins.)
Whole Body & specifically shoulder and left elbow warmup (10 mins).

(ii) 60 Be Breathed™ (Rated 5 & 5.)

(iii) Swipe Density Program [15lbers]
29 x 7 in 21:17 mins (Rated 6.5 & 6.5.)
Left grip frying more than it should be; having to focus on chasing and controlling the Centre of Mass of the clubbells particularly on left side more than I expected as well. Perhaps because I am a bit burnt out, my CNS is a bit jaded and isn't playing as nicely as it could.

(iv) Designed an Introductory Session to HIIT for the crew for tomorrow's session whilst I was still warm - be interesting to see how each individual will go and align themselves for future sessions. Borrowed some ideas from Fish's (Scrapper's) Mod 1 workouts - "Pain is Weakness Leaving the Body"- and hope to encourage the guys to look forward to some more of the same. "Come on ladies !!!!!" will go down like a ton of bricks !!!!!!!!

Tom will come over earlier than the rest of the crew and we shall consider his present gym program and a specific series of clubbell exercises to develop the greater chest strength he desires. I call the 25lber "Gerty" and I anticipate he shall be playing with her for a while. He may not like her too much at first but if I do my job properly, he should grow to love her as he does his darling and beautiful little baby girl.

(v) 10 minute walk to get the kids, and then sneaking around, spotlighting for rabbits for 20 minutes as a general warmdown.

Cheers
Randell.

Another beautiful day here in Paradise. The heat is gone and there is a touch of nip in the air.

(i) Be Breathed™ general warm ups then pumped out 65 continual reps. Rated 5 & 5.

(ii) Intro to some Body flow work.

(iii) Body tapping and general warmup for Swipes

(iv) Density Program.

25 x 8 in average 21 minutes. Rated 6.5 & 6.5.

(v) Intro to HIIT program with Chest emphasis. Variety of push ups and "Gerty" (25lb) bruiser-type work. (The boys were ready to cut Tomaz.)

(vi) "Bash & Bang":
Prawn boxing, elbow to throat area, hip displacement or collapse of knee wherever appropriate. Intro for Rich - 70 minutes controlled continual "in his face" encounter - passed through about 10 different gears as the attacks continued to arrive. Had a smile on his dial as he realized that if he got out of his own way and let his subconscious handle the incoming, the tachypsychia and related physiological effects sorted themselves out for themselves. (Perhaps he might add his own responses to this thread later tonight. ) James is a powerhorse - basically bashed continually the whole time and still comes up smiling.

(vii) Pleasant surprise also - Lee (just logged on this arvo as "Ausfish") popped in. He is one of the fastest learning people I have ever worked with. Highlighted the nuances of the clubbells re Centre of Mass, control of same etc, and he pumped out 40 sets of 5 in double quick time to " have a go at it". A great brain and capable body that responds very well to CST.

Finished off training at about 3pm - an very enjoyable day, having started at 6:30 am.

Cheers

Very pleased when I went to work that Rich was also sore.

I sometimes forget that these guys are old enough to be my sons, and are very capable. ( Note I didn't say I am old enough to be their Dad because this really doesn't have the same positive vibe !!!)

23 x 9 swipes of the 15 lbers in just less than 20 minutes this arvo. Work is very busy and encrouching on a good training balance. Went and got my kids and we all joined "Mr Sonnon" for the Demonstration Warrior Wellness session. Sometimes we forget how important these basic exercises are important for our "flow". My little girl (4yrs) also loves this tape.

Showed my little boy, Josh, the triangle point in wrestling and had him throw me from knees on mat position, for about 20 minutes -kids pick up these concepts quickly, and love to use them.

Been very busy striving to get Scott's material "out there" - I sometimes forget how important it is to maintain it in my own life to increase the quality of my own situation.

Worked a fair bit with the kids at school today. Some break dance stuff with the "cool" kids, rolling around on a grassy patch on the oval - gave it away after a couple of hundred kids came out of the woodwork, wondering what the cool kids (& "what is Mr Waddell up to now ?") were doing. My "Brainworx" kids also had a session today.

(i) General warmup then pumped out 75 basic Be Breathed's.

(ii) Swipes - 20 x 10 in 18:10 for the Density Program.

(iii) Warrior Wellness pot-pouri, then went adventuring looking for possums, rabbits and really scary things for half an hour or so - my little girl has decided she is afraid of the dark, and we were looking for something really, really, really scary to be scared of - she is not happy because we can't find anything even a little bit scary yet.

Basically, another day in paradise.

Cheers

Been snowed under big time with prep for other teachers, some of my kids at school in deep do-dos and getting in big strife/suspended etc, as well as preparing and marking about a million (it seems ) exams etc.

Been working at getting Scott's material out there in a variety of ways as well and just plain burning out. I am re-evaluating how I can achieve all things, be a good dad and get some training in for myself.

Haven't had some time for myself since last Thursday.

Helped bring some of our new PE staff members up to speed with the Rock & Water material we are using with the Yr 8 kids for anti-bullying, self-esteem etc. I always strive to teach the staff the concepts that lay behind the exercises, so that despite any kids having an extensive martial arts background, the teacher will be able to out-perform, almost always, any of them in his/her group.

Scott's material in Shockability and Arthrokinetics is a very valuable resource to utilize in understanding incoming force vectors and how to deal with them.

Will be working with the school coach for the Olympic Weight training group tomorrow afternoon for 3 hours. Our school has several Australian champions at present. He logged on several months ago - perhaps he can be encouraged to put his reflections on the forum at some time in the near future.

Cooking tea for my own kids as I type - must away to get the next set of chores sorted.

Cheers
