Hi guys, great weekend. Everybody did a great job.
I have created this thread to keep us up to date of meet-ups and other stuff.
First up, James and i would like to start a training group to practice regularly. Not decided yet on the timing and venue. I have in mind saturday afternoons at Esplanade where the breakdancers are.
Any suggestions?

Good initiative starting up the thread, Herman. As we discussed earlier, an alternative location could be the Botanic Gardens. Better air and more space to work with, but as you mentioned, the Esplanade would probably be a better place to attract interest, though it can be the wrong kind of interest from time to time, as I mentioned ;-)

Anywhere is fine with me.
Who is going to consolidate the orders for clubs and dvds?
Let me put down my orders first:

Let's all post our shopping list here first, and then I'll see to arranging for a Vpost order. I have a number of Ironmind orders as well, and I want to take advantage of the shipment.
Actually, do you happen to know how to arrange for a sea-freight container?

Hey,
Anywhere will be ok with me too...though I believe Emeline did mention East Coast Park.
Well, not ordering any Clubbells at the moment. Working on my 15s now...
Hoping to start on a 4X7 soon =)

Hi all, it's Phing here. I'm away the next 3-4 weeks, but once I'm back I'm happy to join the fun. We can also join the "300" crowd for our first/next gathering and show some FlowfitŪ stuff (and I'm sure they'd be interested in the club bells as well).

How are you guys integrating CST into your current training?
Have you jumped straight in 100%, or are you dipping your toe in the water?
I've gone for the toe dipping approach and am warming up with intu flow and flow fit to learn the movements. Slow and steady like the tortoise. :)

Same toe dipping here. I've incorporated some intuflow into my normal stretching routines in the morning, which are very similar anyway in the joint rotation moves. Doing some flowfit (instead of the normal cardio stuff) after my gym workouts to get into the groove, and alternate days I'm doing several sets of swipes and mills.

I originally thought I would spend all my time on using the clubbells, as they are like kettlebells on acid!
However, I am deriving the most enjoyment out of basic flowfit which was a complete surprise. My clubs are gathering dust!
For me, the six degrees of freedom concept has had the biggest impact on my training so far. With crossfit the basic body-weight exercises are your staple burpee, press up, pull up and squat. Whilst these are fine for power output, they neglect the co-ordination, accuracy agility and balance parts.
I've felt that this was an issue for a while and tried to rectify it with more gymnastics and ring work, but it proved to be quite difficult (read long winded and time consuming) to train the handstand and ring work, especially if you weigh 220lbs!
The basic flow fit has proved to be a very simple way of increasing my understanding of where my body is in various planes of movement. This is making my progressions with the more 'normal' gymnastics moves much faster.
All in all, I'm having a ball and I just can't resist doing spinal waves and leg swipes whenever I get the chance.

Another suggestion, instead of bikram, you might want to try a good hatha yoga session (less static). Try to get someone to teach you the dancing warrior sets, mention it to one of the yoga teachers, if you are lucky one of them might be competent enough and know what you are referring to, its a lot more dynamic than "normal" yoga.
Reason I mention this is that it's probably a better/faster bridge to learning movement than recommending other sorts of movement classes (whether martial arts, some sort of modern dance etc) which are more skill intensive.
And frankly speaking, I always felt that "hot" yoga was just a gimmick, especially in the tropics!

I've checked out a couple container freight companies. I'll look to giving them a ring sometime to get a quote on shipping. Post your shopping lists here so I have an idea of what to tell them with regard to container space.
With regard to training locations, I recommend somewhere more central, like the Esplanade or the Botanic Gardens, as not all of us live out east.

On the topic of training, I've sprained my ankle, so I haven't been training these past few days, but I've designed my next and first unadulterated 4x7, which I will be posting in the training log section once I get started.

One thing that strikes me - are these the actual trademarked RMAX clubbells? They seem rated in kg rather than pounds, and I haven't seen any urethane clubbells aside from the minis.

Hi Guys,
These are not genuine Clubbells. Although I have nothing against freedom to explore all your options, please keep discussion on this forum to CST and its related products.
I'm really pleased that you are all forming such a cohesive group. It bodes well for the future of CST in Singapore. Contact me for news about purchasing Clubbells in your neck of the woods. I have some new information for you, as discussed while I was there.
Cheers,
Adam

Since now i have the pro grade bells, we can organise regular sessions to practice/train, just hang around and chit chat/share about the sport of kb lifting etc.
Venue: my place at Toa Payoh.
Day: Saturdays
Time: please suggest. Usually i have a friend come here on saturday late mornings.
To join this club, you must:
-Leave your ego at home. Kettlebell lifting is about endurance. It is unlike any other weight sports. Light weights lifted for high reps is the key to performance in kb sport.
-Have an open mind to unlearn what you have been taught in college or in strength and conditioning and to learn the tried and true methods of authentic kettlebell lifting.
-Be willing to put in the hard work.
-Commit and not give up.
This is only for people who are interested in the sport of kb lifting, also called girevoy sport. This is not kb lifting for strength and conditioning.
Benefits of kb sport:
-Extreme strength and endurance. Ok, strength not as extreme as a weightlifter or powerlifter but more than sufficient for everyday function and then some. Endurance not as a marathon runner but more than sufficient for everyday function and then some.
-Tendon and ligament strength
-Improve mobility
-Fat loss
Other benefits of joining this club:
-Will share what i know as a kettlebell instructor tips and tricks free of charge.
-Other performance enhancing tips would be taught at no charge.
-Usage of pro grade kettlebells.
You don't have to:
-Have a background in lifting kbs.
-Have a background in any weight sports.
-Have kettlebells, i have.
-Have a background in any sport.
Guys and girls, young and old, all are welcome.
There is no pressure at all. Each person progress at his own pace. I am no communist neither am i interested to be one. This club is for people who love the sport and have fun. But if we can make a competition team that would be great.
This club is not for people who:
-Just want to try out.
-Don't want to commit.
No entrance fee. For a limited time only. Limited equipment so first come first serve.
