Daniel Juston, CST Delta and myself will be hosting an informal meeting of Clubbell/Rmax enthusiasts this Sunday (April 25) in Portland, Oregon. All are welcome! We are looking to form a group of like minded individuals in the area to meet occasionally to learn, practice, and motivate each other.
Bring your Clubbells. There will also be a full set of Clubbells on hand, for those interested in trying out a size they may not have.
P.M. me if you are interested in the meeting!

Ladies please come too! I will be there fresh with some hot tips from a coaching session with Coach Szolek during a recent trip to Bellingham.

This gathering was a blast.
Daniel Juson CST hosted us at his house where he has an awesome garage gym. Ken Harper came with his suspension-destroying load o kettlebells and dumbbells and clubbells in his vehicle. All told we had kettlebells and clubbells in every size, plus mats, indo board, foam roller things.
There were 7 of us, 5 guys and 2 ladies, all ages. Ken Harper, RKC, presented on kettlebells, and Scott CST and Daniel CST on the clubbells.
First hour was warmups and kettlebell tips and technique hosted by Ken. Second hour was clubbell tips and technique hosted by Scott and Dan, and we were just getting into Body-Flow when I ran out of time and had to leave.
I had not seen kettlebells in person. It was great to try them out with supervision. Now I can make sense of what people are saying about the different feel to the kettlebells versus the clubbells. I bogarted the smallest one. :D
I was also curious about two-handed work with a heavier clubbell. Scott showed me 2-handed swings and cleans with a 20#. Bonk - it was so much longer than the 10 I was used to, that I accidentally scraped the ground. Perhaps a technique thing like with Hydras.
Or.... design specs for the heavier clubs: what is the shortest height person they are designed for? I am just under 5'3". I want a short heavy clubbell!
You should have heard us when Scott and Daniel showed the catch moves they learned at CST Delta. Spontaneous oohs and ahhhs and WHOAs!
Daniel demonstrated some Turkish get-ups with a clubbell. Scott showed some weighted balance drills and WW with light clubbells - amazing.
We spent some individual time on form tweaks too.
All in all I am very stoked about this level of expertise available locally, regularly, and face-to-face! wahoo!

Great report and performance! The co-op garage gym, like you all demonstrated, is the FUTURE of physical culture! I look forward to reading more from the Portland Clan!

I'd like to thank all who came to the meeting, and most of all Dan and family for hosting it!
I had a great time, and with everyone's different background, we all were able to learn something new. We're planning to meet again sometime in mid-June.
I am all for the idea of co-op garage gyms replacing the chrome and fern "fitness" centers! Hopefully, we will be the first of many such groups.
:? Now, if I didn't live so far out in the sticks, I'd be able to host a few of these myself.....

It's been a while since I've posted here. [I've been eating humble pie and rehabbing a seriously injured right knee that came from doing GS sport without recovering from a previous injury and not listening to advice Coach Sonnon had provided about curtailing, scaling back the GS until the original injury had healed.].
Sunday was very instructional for me. I was impressed with Dan & Scott H's knowledge of the "small" elements of proper form, such as maintaining a "straight" wrist and "moving the body around the CB" when doing the parry & reverse parry. The devil's in the details, as Admiral Rickover said. That alone was worth the time spent and really demonstrated to me the use of CBs in total body movement.
It was nice to meet Connie and exchange different insights with the rest of our small group. We plan on doing it again in June.

Thanks to all,
Indeed the Gathering was an experience of positive growth as each one of us has something unique and special to contribute. Ken, good to see you post here...and don't be a stranger any longer to this forum.
Lookin forward to next. Now if only we could get some of the 'big dogs' to come down sometime.
Long live the Circular Revolution....resistance is futile... except for cirular resistance
