I finally "got" the form on these and discovered that most of my problems with the side movements of ABC is the launching of the clubbell out of the guard position. Due to my hesitation while wielding a 45 lb. club I usually just let the clubbell drop out of the guard and then across my body. On most occasions I would have a HELL of a time getting the bruiser back into the guard on the opposite side.
The key is to really LAUNCH the club out with some force at a 45 degree angle to be able to get into the proper groove. Once I got this down, the movement seems "right" rather than "wrong!"
