As I get ready to leave this week for Memphis to shoot the FLOWBOX series, I wanted to throw out a post to let people know what they can expect. It's been a long time coming and a lot of folks have asked why. Here's the deal...

I have spent the better part of my life training, competing and studying the art of striking. My goal with FLOWBOX is to present material that will help improve athletes striking game to the best of my ability. It's important to me that there is no superfluous fluff. I want to use every second of every DVD to work towards the athlete's improvement - bottom line.

There is a very shallow pool of striking material out there, especially as it relates to MMA. My goal is to present training methods, protocols, proper mechanics and skills that are specifically designed to address the sport of Mixed Martial Arts.

The most common problem I see is that athletes try and bring the skills specific and unique to another combat sport into the cage. The trouble is, that each of these other combat sports have evolved specifically over time to work within their given rule structure. A rule structure that is different than MMA.

All fighting is positional. Whether it's striking or grappling it's a game of getting the upper hand and maintaining that. It's about eliminating the opponent's options while expanding your own. In order to do that you have to recognize that your structure, position, movement and tactics must work in tandem with one another to eliminate as many variables as possible. That requires that your striking game address unique variables in MMA that don't exist in Muay Thai or Boxing - FLOWBOX bridges those gaps.

In this DVD series, everything is put together to address MMA.

There will be a heavy focus on defense. Putting together your structure, movement and positions in order to access your "effortless defense". When combined with Positional Offense Fundamentals a process is created by which you will be able to more efficiently and effectively control the fight. Once the correct structure is built and your movement coordinates with it, you will be able to take that into the ring or cage and develop and use your ring generalship.

Ring generalship is about controlling the opponent and the fight on the whole. It's something that is missing to a large degree in MMA. The myth is that MMA is chaotic and random. In truth, it is only as chaotic and random as your skills and tactics allow it to be.

I will also be covering, in detail the subject of creating and improving punching power. I have worked on and obsessed over this topic for a very long time and I guarantee it will be different than anything currently offered on the market.

My goal for this first FLOWBOX DVD series is to present material and methods for developing effortless defense, positional fighting and eventually begin to get into ring generalship while addressing the subject of Power Punching and the methods and protocols for each in an easily digestable method.

Learning good striking is, of course, a process. It's not something we can cover entirely in one DVD series. I'm planning on following it up with some downloadable videos and PDFs which will delve deeper into each subject, expand on principles and go beyond what is covered in the first DVD series.

The shoot will take about a week and then it's going to the editors, shortly after, the FLOWBOX DVD SERIES will hit the streets.

Thanks for your patience and i'm confident you'll feel its been worth the wait.

Thanks, coach! I have been looking forward to this for a long time. I appreciate you sharing what you have learned on your journey. There is not very much good striking material available, this is going to be huge. I can't wait.

I don't believe the first series will be available for download, there are several downloadables on deck which will be released as well.

Because of the scope of Flowbox, I want to get the major foundational material out (DVDs) and then build off of that with the downloadables.

Flowbox is on the last final bits of the editing now. Always unexpected problems pop up, but they've all been worked out and it shouldn't take too much longer now.

A few more days and it will be ready to go.
